Our Wedding

Yes! Gloria and John eloped during COVID-19 for that sweet sweet health insurance and tax benefits... We are finally having a “wedding” to celebrate 5 years of marriage together with all our friends, old and new.

Wait - Aren't You Already Married?

If you don't know already (which you should), Gloria and John are proud parents of three cats (&amp; one in spirit). Richard Parker (shorthair), Rigby (Maine Coon mix), and Redbeard (black) will be celebrating at home in Ann Arbor, as we prioritize their safety and wellbeing. Gloria's beloved firstborn Rizzo crossed the rainbow bridge unexpectedly in April 2023, but will forever live on in her parents' hearts.

Since we are already married, we will be signing a different sort of paperwork ... name change paperwork! We chose our new last name together so we can share something together to represent our union. But also "Li-Hixson" or "Hixson-Li" low-key sounds like a disease :&lt;

Plus, weddings are horribly boring for kids. Q: Can I bring a plus one?A: Invitations and RSVP details will indicate whether a plus-one has been included—we kindly ask that you RSVP only for those listed. Q: Is there an open bar?A: We’ve decided to have a DRY wedding, and here’s why: our venue is nestled deep in a beautiful, forested area with lots of deer and limited cell service—meaning no rideshares and some tricky roads at night. We want everyone to get home safely, without any risk of accidents. Plus, the bride is famously a non-drinker, so this feels true to us. That being said, we’d love for you to join us at our wedding welcome party the day before, where drinks will definitely be flowing—on us! 🗺️ Travel Q: Is parking available at the venue(s)?A: Yes!
