What is the distance between the ceremony and reception?
Our ceremony will be a Catholic Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Plano, TX. Our reception is about a 40 minute drive from the church in Anna, TX. Please see your individual RSVP for the address to the reception as it is invitation only.
What is the dress code?
Our dress code is cocktail/formal. For men, this looks like a suit and tie . For women, this looks like a tea-length, knee-length, or midi dress. Please keep in mind our ceremony is a Catholic Mass so out of reverence for the Mass, please dress accordingly.
During the Catholic Mass, can I receive Holy Communion?
We have a deep love and appreciation for the beauty of our faith and we ask our guests to join us in respecting and honoring that. As part of our Catholic faith, we believe the Eucharist is the body, blood, soul, and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you are non-Catholic, or a Catholic not in good standing, we ask that you refrain from receiving the Eucharist. If you choose to refrain from receiving, we still encourage you to go up to the priest to receive a blessing. When you are next in line, simply approach the priest with your arms crossed across your chest forming an X and your head bowed. The priest will give you a blessing, and you can then return to your seat.
Can we bring our children to the wedding?
We welcome children to the ceremony however, with seating restrictions we kindly ask that the reception remains reserved for adults and nursing infants only. We would love to be able to accommodate entire families, but the size of our venue does not allow it!
What's up with the Catholic Mass?
The Catholic Church teaches that marriage is a sacrament instituted by God. As such, we believe that by getting married, we are called not only to love each other but to bear witness to that truth as well. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says the following about Marriage: "The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the hand of the Creator…for man is created in the image and likeness of God who is himself love. Since God created him man and woman, their mutual love becomes an image of the absolute and unfailing love with which God loves man. It is good, very good, in the Creator's eyes. And this love which God blesses is intended to be fruitful and to be realized in the common work of watching over creation: ‘And God blessed them, and God said to them: 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it.’ Holy Scripture affirms that man and woman were created for one another: ‘It is not good that the man should be alone.’ The woman, ‘flesh of his flesh,’ his equal, his nearest in all things, is given to him by God as a ‘helpmate’; she thus represents God from whom comes our help. ‘Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.’ The Lord himself shows that this signifies an unbreakable union of their two lives by recalling what the plan of the Creator had been ‘in the beginning’” (CCC 1600-1605). Because of the beauty and significance of what we are doing as stated above, we have decided to have a full Nuptial Mass, and we are so happy to have you all as our community of people to walk with us into the beginning of our Vocation!
Will there be a place for me to nurse my baby during the reception?
Yes! Once you get to the reception venue, the Bride's room (first left past the large double doors) will be open for any mothers with nursing babies to use. Both the men's and women's restrooms are equipped with changing tables as well.
