Our Wedding

Ours is an unlikely love story, one shaped by happy coincidences and God’s divine timing. It’s the story of how Deven from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Jordan from Frederick, Colorado, found each other despite the odds of distance and circumstance. How unlikely is it that two people from such different places would meet, fall in love, and build a life together? Yet, here we are, and we have serendipity—and a little help from our friends—to thank for it. Deven grew up surrounded by a close-knit community of families through Holy Spirit Elementary and O’Gorman Junior and Senior High School in Sioux Falls. It was there that he became good friends with Owen Holmes, who would later become part of our story in the most unexpected way. Alongside Owen, Deven also knew Lilly Hosek, another Sioux Falls native, from their early school days. So, when you ask, “How does Jordan fit into all of this?” you’ll find the connection isn't as random as it might first appear. Jordan, on the other hand, hails from Frederick, Colorado, and ventured off to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for college. It was there, in the first month of freshman year, that she met Lilly—who quickly became her best friend, and, as it turned out, a master matchmaker. If you ask Jordan, she’ll tell you Lilly had her matchmaking hat on from the very beginning. Back in October 2021, shortly after the friends first met, Lilly was already saying how perfect it would be if Jordan dated Deven, Owen’s amazing friend from South Dakota, so they could double date together, and planted the seed. Jordan wasn’t exactly eager to entertain the idea of someone she didn’t know from a state she’d never been to before, especially in the whirlwind of her first year at Lincoln. If you ask Deven, his story starts with a missed opportunity. He was invited to a winter weekend at Lilly’s lake cabin at Okoboji, where he first heard about Jordan—though fate wasn’t quite ready for them to meet. He couldn't make it, but the seed had been planted. Then came July 3rd, 2022. Jordan was visiting Lilly and Owen at the lake for the Fourth of July, and the three found themselves on the dock, enjoying a perfect summer day. Owen, yet another matchmaker in their story, joked that it would be great if there were another guy there for Jordan to meet—and, to his surprise, she was all in. "Make it happen," she said. So Owen did what any good friend would do: he sent Deven Jordan’s number. A few minutes later, Deven was texting Jordan, and the conversation immediately took off. Without hesitation, Jordan invited him to join them at the lake the next day. To her surprise, Deven actually showed up. From that moment on, the two chatted for hours, their connection igniting with fireworks that night (literal ones, too). If you ask Deven, he’ll admit that he was nervous as could be but still managed to work his flirtation skills throughout the evening. If you ask Jordan, she’ll tell you she found Deven’s awkwardness endearing—especially the way he fumbled his words just to try to impress her. The rest of the summer was filled with long, late-night phone calls. Deven, working his summer job in Clarinda, Iowa, and Jordan, back in Colorado, spent hours getting to know each other. As the end of summer approached, they started planning an opportunity to see each other again. When Jordan mentioned that the next time she'd be back in the Midwest was to move into her sorority house, Deven enthusiastically accepted her invitation—with the caveat that he’d be meeting her dad (yes, the first official date was with Dad in tow). Bonus points for Deven—Jordan thought it was incredibly sweet and intentional. The dinner went off without a hitch, and after dropping Jordan’s dad off at the airport, Deven and Jordan continued their first date, wandering around the Old Market in downtown Omaha. That evening on August 8th, 2022, was full of laughter, getting to know one another, and, by the end of it, Deven asked Jordan to be his girlfriend. The next two years were a beautiful blend of travel, adventure, and, yes, plenty of long-distance challenges. Whether it was lake weekends in Okoboji with Owen and Lilly, road trips between Brookings, South Dakota, and Lincoln, Nebraska, or visits to Jordan’s hometown in Colorado, Deven and Jordan made it work. And all the while, they strengthened their bond through fun dates like trying new restaurants, jet skiing on summer days, and cooking together. In the summer of 2024, Jordan landed an internship in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, wanting to be closer to Deven. The couple was blessed with another piece of God’s puzzle when Jordan’s internship turned into a full-time career opportunity after her graduation in December. With Jordan’s move to Sioux Falls, it felt like the perfect time to take the next step together. That fall, Deven secretly flew to Colorado to ask Jordan’s parents for their blessing—something Jordan had no idea about. With a resounding “yes,” Deven picked out the perfect ring and began planning a surprise proposal with the help of Jordan’s family. On November 26, 2024, during a family photoshoot at the Westenbroek family Thanksgiving trip in the stunning White Tank Mountains near Phoenix, Deven dropped to one knee. Overwhelmed with joy and love, Jordan said yes without a second thought. And now, here we are, knee-deep in wedding planning and eagerly anticipating October 3rd, 2025 when we’ll celebrate the best decision we’ve ever made: spending the rest of our lives together.

Jaylyn:If there’s one thing Jordan cherishes most from her childhood, it’s the time spent with her twin sister, Jaylyn. Though they were eager to go their separate ways for college, they’ve since realized just how special it is to have a twin—someone who truly knows you better than anyone else. The two still call each other regularly, whether it’s for a second opinion or to talk through big decisions. Jordan is also incredibly grateful for the friendship between Jaylyn and Deven, who, coincidentally, share the same easygoing attitude that complements Jordan's perfectly. Jordan is overjoyed to have her built-in best friend by her side on her big day. Trever:Deven’s decision to have his older brother Trever as his best man should come as no surprise to anyone who knows them. From their shared sense of humor to their love for working on cars, trying new tricks on their jetskis, and swapping tips on fixing up their houses, these two are truly cut from the same cloth. Deven has always looked up to Trever, and now, Trever has become just as much a big brother to Jordan as he is to Deven. The couple couldn’t be more grateful for the unwavering support he’s shown them. Having Trever by their side on this special day means the world to them both. Serena:Serena has always been someone Jordan looks up to—after all, she’s the older sister who went through everything first. From sharing school tips and hand-me-down clothes to her not so successful attempts at passing on her hair-styling advice, Serena has been a role model for Jordan. Since Jordan and Deven started dating, Serena and her husband TJ have become not just family, but great friends to the couple as well. They've introduced Jordan and Deven to their love for wine tasting, skiing, and, most importantly, a partnership built on love and laughter. Owen:If you know Deven and Jordan’s story, you know that Owen has played a key role in bringing them together. Owen is one of Deven’s best friends, sharing a passion for working on jetskis and cars, and countless road trips to visit their girlfriends, Jordan and Lilly. Whether they were traveling to see the girls or making spontaneous trips for questionable Facebook Marketplace finds, the two have been there for each other since middle school. Deven and Jordan are grateful for their friendship with Owen and Lilly—two of their closest friends who brought them together. It’s truly the best of both worlds: best friends dating best friends. Lilly:Simply put, Jordan and Deven wouldn’t be where they are today without Lilly and Owen, who knew from the start that they were meant to be together. Lilly has been there for Jordan since the very beginning of college and has been a friend to Deven since preschool. Over the years, she has been a constant source of support—whether it’s celebrating milestones, going on double dates, or hosting Jordan during her first summer working in Sioux Falls. Most recently, Lilly has played a key role in wedding planning, hosting both the bridal shower and bachelorette party. It’s rare to find a friend like Lilly, and the couple is beyond excited to have her by their side on this special day. Gavin:Alongside the other groomsmen, Gavin is one of Deven’s closest friends. When the guys get together, Gavin’s the one they can always count on for a solid dose of common sense when the not-so-brilliant ideas start flowing. Deven and Gavin have spent plenty of time together—whether it’s working on landscaping projects for Gavin’s business or having late-night, real conversations in their freshman-year dorm. Deven truly values Gavin’s work ethic and always knows he’ll give an honest, straightforward perspective. The wedding party wouldn’t be complete without Gavin, especially since he’ll be the one to get the dance floor moving. Ava:As Deven’s younger sister, Ava has brought out many sides of him—from the annoying older brother who loves to tease her to the fiercely protective sibling who has countless memories of looking out for her. Jordan is beyond excited to gain two little sisters, especially since Ava and AC have made her feel like family. Whether it’s playing card games, going on ice cream runs, or just relaxing at the lake, they have shared so many special moments together. Deven and Jordan both appreciate Ava’s honesty and spontaneous ideas. The couple is incredibly thankful to have Ava by their side as they celebrate this next chapter in their lives. Will:Deven and Will’s friendship dates back to fifth grade, during a season of little league baseball. When the two reunited in seventh grade, their friendship picked up right where it left off, driven by a shared love of causing trouble at school and playing pranks on their friends. From high school football practices and weekends with the boys in college to tinkering with cars, Will has always been a steady and dependable friend to Deven. Since Jordan came into the picture, Will has been welcoming and easygoing—even when she teases him about girls. Whether it’s a night out or a quiet hangout, Will is always up for anything. AC:AC, Deven’s youngest sister, has plenty of big brother stories about Deven that she loves to share with Jordan—like the time Deven had to pull her out of the lake after she tipped over in a kayak in freezing cold water, or when he would bribe her with candy not to tell on him after he'd been bad. Jordan and Deven are so grateful for the laughter that’s always present when AC’s around. She’s never short on cheesy jokes or goofy stories that keep everyone smiling. Jordan couldn’t be more thankful for Deven’s two sisters, who have welcomed her like a big sister and a true friend. Nate:Nate, aka “Master,” “French Onion,” or “Nater Tater,” is the friend who is always up for a laugh. He’s the first one to strike up a conversation with a girl at the bar and the last one to leave at the end of the night. Deven and Nate grew especially close during their time as college roommates, right around the time Deven started dating Jordan. Nate instantly included Jordan in the group, sharing hilarious memories and always keeping the mood light. He’s been a great support to both of them and never misses a chance to give Deven and Jordan a hard time. Without a doubt, he’ll bring plenty of laughter and fun to the big day. Lydia:Fun, lively, and encouraging are the words Jordan would use to describe her friend Lydia. They became close after being grouped together to live in an apartment with their other friends, and little did they know, they would bond over a shared passion for cooking, planning, and finding any excuse to celebrate. Lydia has also been a constant source of encouragement, always welcoming when Deven visited Jordan in Lincoln. As a great friend to both of them, Lydia will undoubtedly bring an infectious energy to their celebration on the big day.

What food will be served at the venue?Bluestem Catering Company will serve a pasta bar with the choice of Santa Fe Chicken Tortellini or Chicken Bacon Ranch Mac &amp; Cheese, along with Caesar salad and breadsticks. I have a dietary restriction. Will there be a meal provided?We want to accommodate all our guests!
