Jordyn and Anthony first met in Cedar Falls, Iowa in fourth grade at Hansen Elementary School. Anthony was the new kid on the block, while Jordyn had already become queen of the elementary scene. Soon enough, she had given Anthony the friend pass, and the two of them would continue the following few years with nothing more than smiles and waves throughout the hallways.
As time went on, many little occurrences began to intertwine the fates of the two budding students. There was the iconic conversation that began the nicknames that Jordyn and Anthony still call each other to this day; “Girls are dawgs, and guys are hounds. That makes you J-Dawg and me A-Hound!” And then there were the days of flirting in Spanish classroom day after day; “Umm, why are you braiding my hair?” “I gotta get practice somehow, duhh!” Eventually, they realized that they were goons and should just date it out already!
Their first run-around-the-mill dating scene involved some trips to hockey games, some parties with pals, and maybe the occasional walk in the park. Sadly, the summer after sophomore year had split the two star-crossed lovers in half, and they each went their separate ways.
By some fateful circumstance (and the wise guidance of one of Jordyn’s bridesmaids), Anthony decided to join theater his senior year of highschool. Once again, Anthony was the young scrappy and hungry kid on the block while Jordyn had already become queen of the new broken scene with her three years of work already put into the theatre. From this moment onward, Jordyn and Anthony participated in shenanigan after shenanigan. Long drives with Fergalicious and Billie Eilish on repeat and the occasional Carlos O’Kelly’s pitstop haunted the late nights of Cedar Falls.
Eventually, the time had come for Anthony to part ways to Iowa State and Jordyn to reside at UNI. This time however, the distance did not sever their intertwined fates. In fact, when they began dating again after a year of being separated, the distance did nothing but add fuel to the fire of desire to be near one another. Anthony could probably drive from Ames to Cedar Falls with his eyes closed from making that journey a time or two. In fact, they liked each other so much, they decided to go to Hawaii together! Here, so many great memories were made. From climbing to the heavens of Mauna Kea (The world’s tallest mountain!), to hiking Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (Yes, Jordyn sacrificed Anthony to the volcano gods. Sadly they said he tasted bad and spit him back out). Their thirst for adventure was quenched far beyond anything they had expected.
Over the next couple years, the two of them would go through many big life changes. After college, Jordyn and Anthony began living with 6 other people all in the same apartment. This is where they adopted their first child. Bucky, the tuxedo-cat-terror, was born into chaos, and thus still exhibits a crack-head mentality to this day. Not too many months passed before they acquired an apartment all to themselves, where they adopted their second child. Loki, born into peacefulness and bliss, took on an angelic attitude. A week before Jordyn and Anthony’s next big adulting adventure (buying a house), two orange baby kittens, parasitized and malnourished, were found in a box outside the vet clinic where Jordyn and Anthony worked. After giving them plenty of TLC, munchies, and an awesome new house to live in, they turned into twin floof-ball purr machines now named Queso and Salsa. Finally, Anthony and Jordyn’s kitty collection was complete. There was just one more thing missing…
On July 22nd, 2023, Anthony proposed to Jordyn in the Hartman Reserve forest after an elaborate scavenger hunt. That finally leads us to where we are today. Planning a wedding in the coolest place in the world: Hawaii! We are so excited to return to Hawaii with our closest friends and family, and give you all a taste of the spot where our love truly flourished. We can’t thank everyone enough for everything you have done for us and our relationship over the years.
