Carlos and Jordyn both played sports at New Mexico Highlands University—Carlos on the baseball field and Jordyn on the basketball court. While they crossed paths, their story didn’t officially begin there. They may have exchanged a message or two without much response (but we’ll leave that part out). In the end, it was all about patience, God's Plan and perfect timing.

Jordyn and Carlos reconnected through DMs years after they’d both graduated and started their careers as educators and coaches. One of them had a change of heart and decided to give the DMs another shot—and boom, sparks flew! Their first date was at Main Event (because nothing says romance like arcade games), followed by a trip to the Gilman Tunnels in Jemez, and then came an actual camping trip. No shower. No restroom. Just nature. Since then, they’ve been making memories, laughing, and adventuring together!

Carlos had always believed in love at first sight, but he never expected to feel it so strongly when he met Jordyn. From their first date, he knew there was something special about her. Jordyn, though, wasn’t sure right away. It took her a few weeks of getting to know him—shared laughs, late-night talks, and easy moments—before she realized she felt the same way. But once she did, it was clear to both of them that this was something really special.

For weeks, they’d talked about taking a trip to Jemez Springs, and finally, they found a weekend that worked between Jordyn’s basketball games and Carlos’ baseball practices. The drive was full of good music, conversation, and quiet moments where they both just took in the mountain views.

When they got to the springs, the day felt just right—peaceful and full of anticipation. Carlos had planned something special, but Jordyn had no idea what was coming. After spending some time taking pictures and exploring, Carlos set up his tripod by a little bridge over a frozen river. As he fiddled with the camera, Jordyn wandered around, unaware of the surprise. Finally, he walked over to her, got down on one knee, and asked her to be his wife. The moment was so unexpected, so pure, that Jordyn couldn’t even remember the words that were said—just the feeling of overwhelming happiness.

But the day didn’t stop there. They ventured to the springs, where the beauty of the place was only enhanced by the unexpected (and slightly eccentric) company of a few free-spirited (naked) hippies. Despite the surprise, it only added to the charm and whimsy of the day, making it an unforgettable memory they’d cherish forever.

It was a day that felt like a fairy tale, one full of love, laughter, and the kind of joy that only comes when two people know they’ve found something truly special.
