Josh and Jake met each other in 2021 as Josh was a Resident Assistant, and Jake was his boss, the Resident Director. At first their relationship was naturally a supervising/mentoring relationship, but over time, grew to be much more than that. Jake and Josh have grown to be the best of friends and enjoy spending SO much time together, chatting about life, books, ministry and everything else. The length of their hangouts likely sets new records. Jake is a wise and caring friend who is reliable and trustworthy. Jake is truly a blessing and gift for Josh, and he is so thankful for his friendship and love. Josh and Jake are excited to see the ways that God will use them for his glory in the future!

Kyla has the pleasure of being Chloe's older sister and they grew up sharing a room and pretty much everything else. This close childhood meant they had the usual sister disagreements. However, they have grown to appreciate such a close upbrining now that they do not live together. Since Kyla moved out, every time they see each other they love to laugh, drink iced coffee, and go thrifting. Kyla appreciates Chloe for their deep friendship even though they are sisters and Chloe's constant support. Kyla is honoured to have Chloe by her side as the Maid of Honour on such an important day!

Josh and Branden met during Josh’s second year and Branden’s first, when Josh was Branden’s RA. At first, they weren’t sure of eachother but overtime their connection grew and their friendship formed. Josh and Branden share much of the same humour and appreciate laughing at puns, dad jokes and literally everything else that they find funny, which is everything. Branden has grown to be a trustworthy and reliable friend for Josh and has been a huge support through hard times. He cares deeply and demonstrates his care in meaningful ways. Josh is truly blessed to know Branden!

Eden is Josh's younger sister and Kyla has loved getting to know her over the last two years. Not only because of Eden's talent for baking gluten-free desserts, but for Eden's caring heart and her openness to welcome Kyla into the family. Kyla has enjoyed hanging out with Eden at Heritage and she hopes to convince Eden to come to Heritage for a one-year program. Nevertheless, Kyla is excited to have Eden in her wedding party and to soon have her as a sister-in-law!

Josh and Brandon met at Heritage during Josh’s second year and Brandon’s first. Josh and Brandon made an instant connection and became close friends very quickly. They have enjoyed doing book studies together and pushing eachother to greater maturity in Christ. They also have a ton of fun together, and the laughter that can be heard in dorm when Brandon, Branden and Josh are together is contagious. Josh appreciates Brandon’s caring and kind nature and his huge heart for his friends. Josh is honoured to have Brandon standing up with him on the wedding day.

Kyla and Kristin have known each other for about two years and Kyla has enjoyed getting to know Josh's older sister better over that time. Kristin is kind, responsible and a calming person to be around which meant that it was easy for Kyla to feel welcome in the Slotegraaf home. Kyla and Kristin share a love for plants and they always enjoy spending time together. Kyla is looking forward to having Kristin as her older sister-in-law and is excited for their friendship to continue to grow over the years to come. Kyla is honoured to have Kristin as a bridesmaid!

Clayton and Josh have known each other for about two years and although they haven’t had a lot of time to get to know each other due geography, Josh has appreciated Clayton’s kind and caring spirit. They are both excited to finally have a brother (even if it’s in-law!), and to be soul friends, as Clay would say. Josh is also excited for Clayton and Amber to move back to Ontario so that they can spend more time together. Josh is honoured to have Clayton in his party.

Kyla and Amber have the joy of being sisters-in-law and Kyla has loved spending time with her since Amber started dating Kyla's brother, Clayton. Amber is fun, adventurous, and caring, all characteristic that Kyla has valued in Amber during their time knowing each other. Kyla was honoured to be in Amber's wedding party and is excited to have Amber in her wedding party. Kyla and Josh have enjoyed spending time with Amber and Clayton and they look forward to many family gatherings together in the years to come.

Josh and Jonah met at Heritage in Josh’s second year and Jonah’s fourth. Josh and Jonah became attached at the hip instantly and spent most of every day at Heritage together. They did most things together, including classes, sports, competitions and everything else. Josh appreciates Jonah’s loyalty and kindness. Jonah cares deeply about his friends. Although Jonah hasn’t been at Heritage for two years, and the two don’t see each other as much, their connection picks up right where they left off every time the two see each other. Jonah is a wonderful and hilarious friend.

Kyla and Olivia became friends when they were on staff at Fair Havens camp. They were assigned to spend the summer sharing a bunkbed and working in the same department, and they quickly bonded as they found that they had much in common. Throughout their seven years of friendship, they haven't always lived near each other, but their friendship has remained consistent. They still enjoy sharing a good gluten-free meal and each time they are back together, it is like no time has passed. Kyla is honoured to have Olivia in her wedding party!

Seth and Josh got to know each other through working together as RAs for the past year. Josh is thankful for the way that Seth cares deeply and strives to be a good friend. It is crazy to Josh that he has only known Seth for a year. He has quickly become a stable and reliable friend for Josh. Seth and Josh have had many good discussions and have enjoyed journeying through new stages of life together. Seth has been a helpful friend for Josh and Josh looks forward to a friendship that will last for many years to come.

Kyla and Mady met in their first year at Heritage and their friendship has only grown since they first met. Their friendship began with studying, skating, and sleepovers, but quickly moved to deep conversations about faith and life. Kyla has always appreciated Mady’s kindness, intentionality and her good sense of humour. Kyla had the honour of standing beside Mady at her wedding last June and is looking forward to having her good friend stand beside her at her wedding.
