Before we went on our trip to France, our friends at work were joking that Josh would probably propose on the trip... so much so that he felt he needed to make it clear that that was NOT happening yet just so I wasn't disappointed.

After we got back, he suggested we look at some rings (exciting!!) and I told my friends immediately. We shopped around and found some styles that I really loved.

We agreed we'd like to go to the Blue Ridge mountains in the fall and see some of the pretty fall colors. As soon as we started planning the trip, I hoped he was going to propose. And when he mentioned that we'd have a photoshoot with his photographer friend, Aden (also co-best man), I was pretty certain that was what was happening.

Early on in our relationship, I mentioned that whenever he did propose, I would love photos to capture the memories. And while it's not unheard of, I personally don't know of any straight men who have suggested a photoshoot...

We were probably 40 minutes into the photoshoot when I started to wonder if it was actually going to happen. But then Aden had me pose in front of Josh facing away and when I turned around, Josh was down on one knee.

Our friends celebrated, we had lots of FaceTimes with family and friends out of state, and celebrated with Josh's parents in person in the following days.

Josh and I went to an apple orchard and sipped hard ciders and ate apple cider donuts and blackberry pie. We were actually followed by a group of women asking if we just got engaged that day. They said they could tell because we just looked so happy.

It was the happiest day of my life (so far) and I can't wait for the wedding!
