Things to Do

Lookout Mountain Incline Railway

3917 St Elmo Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37409, USA
(423) 821-4224

"As the trolley-style railcars climb Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga’s surrounding mountains and valleys come alive. The 72.7% grade near the top makes the Incline the steepest passenger railway in the world.

A great all-day excursion is Lookout Mountain, which features one of the world’s steepest passenger trains, the nation’s largest and deepest waterfall open to the public, and a chance to see seven states from one spot.

If you want to devote the day to it, be sure to include these iconic spots: Incline Railway, Ruby Falls, and Rock City. "

Sunset Rock via Bluff Trail

Rock Island, TN 38581, USA

"the Bluff Trail travels alongside many exposed vertical rock cliffs with steep drop offs on the opposite side of the trail. Just before the next intersection, hike underneath a huge rock bluff jutting out over the trail. You are now under Sunset Rock. Continue on to the signed intersection, turning left. After some steps, you'll come to another unsigned trail split. Go left, right leads towards some houses.

Pass several amazing views to the larger open view atop Sunset Rock. From here you'll get 180-degree views toward west Chattanooga, the Tennessee River Gorge and Prentice Cooper State Forest. Now just turn around and retrace your steps back to Point Park, going from view to view to view.

If you want the view without the hike, try the .1 mile Sunset Rock Trail."
