It all began in an aisle of CVS... Josh and his mom were searching for a birthday gift for a certain five year old friend, Madison. Josh's mom, Traci, had given him a strict budget for Madison's gift. Josh's heart was set on the Bridal Barbie doll, complete with a wedding dress and veil, but sadly, it was over budget. Traci did her best to offer other options, but, if you know him, you know it was tough to change his mind. Josh finally looked up at his mom and begged, "Mom, I HAVE to get this for her... I just LOVE her."
Needless to say, Madison opened up a Bridal Barbie doll from her future husband on her fifth birthday. Madison was as head over heels for Josh as a five year old could be and was devastated when Josh and his family moved away. In the meantime, Madison moved to a new school, but she never forgot about her best friend, Josh. The McClures moved back to Altavista in 2009 and on his first day of fifth grade, he searched up and down the hallways, peeking in classrooms, looking for Madison.
Madison returned to Altavista schools two years later, and also found herself looking for Josh. She vividly remembers the first time she saw him again, walking up the stairs to class, but was too nervous to say hi. Flash forward to ninth grade, the two finally reconnected, but it wasn't quite a love connection yet. Throughout high school, the two were in the same social circles and remained acquaintances, but never got the timing right on a romantic relationship. After high school, Josh moved to Greensboro and Madison went off to college.
The next summer, Madison and Josh's group of high school friends planned a reunion trip to the beach.
When Josh arrived to the beach that June night, he said hello to Madison and sparks flew. They stayed up until 3am talking on the balcony that first night and it felt like they had been best friends for their entire lives. When the beach trip was over, they weren't sure what was going to happen, but they both were hoping their story wasn't over. The two texted nonstop and before they knew it, they were an item. Madison fell hard for Josh and Josh found himself falling for his Kindergarten sweetheart... and the rest is history.
They've been attached at the hip ever since, even through doing long distance for nearly three and a half years until Madison graduated from college and Josh moved to Charlottesville so they could be together. After years of long distance, new jobs, and a big move for Josh, the pair spent lots of time learning about each other.
After a year in C'ville, the two decided on a new adventure: Mebane, North Carolina.
Mebane is where their relationship truly blossomed and they decided on forever. When they first started dating, Josh always told Madison he wanted to propose in Madison Square Garden since the two are music fanatics and had been to over 20 concerts together (and, of course, the obvious twin name). MSG wasn't quite "in this plumber's budget" (That's direct quote from Joshua A. McClure himself.), so he had the sweet and romantic idea to propose in the next best place: Madison, NC. After the engagement, Josh arranged for family and friends to surprise Madison for a celebratory afternoon and the wedding planning began!
