As most of you know, we met in the summer before our junior year of high school. Prior to this, we knew of each other, but only through mutual friends and from occasionally passing by each other in the hallway. But here's the real story.
Picture this: The year is 2020 and there's a virus going around that essentially causes everything to shut down. Doesn't sound very romantic, right? Well, in the midst of all of this chaos, the churches were also pretty much closed off as well. So, a group of our mutual friends got together every week to do Bible studies in the park. We were both separately included in this invitation. However, what we didn't know, was that we would not only find each other, but a love that comes once in a lifetime at these very events. I'm sure you can ask anyone at those Bible studies how hilarious it was for them to know that we liked each other, but for us to not know if the other one liked us back.
Very romantically, someone decided that Snapchat was the best way to ask a girl out. That's right, not very romantic at all. However, two years later, the engagement made up for it. We will never forget the date: May 8, 2022. Which means, that in turn, we will never forget the date of our senior prom either. Don't worry, no one was asked for their hand in marriage at prom. It was at Inspiration Point. A nice hike to a nice view, and a snake that decided to slither across our path on the way back. We'll let you guess who nearly jumped a mile in the air at the sight of it.
Fast forward a little more, now we're both in Lexington. Through any bump in the road, we have persevered. We are renting our very first house, both have jobs we love, and two very crazy dogs. As crazy as they are, Renegade and Maetrix have oddly been the ones keeping the two of us sane in this crazy city.
We couldn't be any happier to be where we are in life right now, and are so excited to be married by the end of this year. You really don't know when God is going to take what seems like a hopeless situation and give you someone who makes looking for the hope and the good things in life that much easier. To be able to say that we each found OUR person is a feeling far beyond description. We are so thankful and lucky for each other, and for all of you who are going to be spending this very special day with us. We appreciate all of you and can't wait to see each and every one of you on that dance floor!
