Hey everyone, my name is Juan, and it is my pleasure to finally tell you how Jaycee and I met. It was February 18, 2016, and I was working out at the gym when I saw an old friend from high school. During my interaction with him, we added each other on Instagram. When I got home, I looked through his followers and saw Jaycee. I thought to myself, "I know her, but I wonder if she remembers me." I always found her attractive and didn’t think much of this particular incident at the time, not knowing that this moment would change our lives forever.
I didn't know her personally (yet) at the time, but we were acquainted through mutual friends in the past. I only knew her as the pretty girl I saw walking in the hallway at our high school with her friends back in 2004. We had been to a few get-togethers with friends in 2007, like a friend’s birthday party and Serra Bowl singing karaoke, just to name a few. We also walked past each other at the San Bruno church in the late 2000s, which is a significant memory for us.
Unbeknownst to me, my reality started to change when we began talking back and forth on Instagram, as little did I know how serious and close Jaycee and I would become. I felt comfortable enough to ask her if she wanted to hang out, but she said no! I thought she didn’t want to hang out with me, and before I could move on from the topic, she explained that she was currently living in Texas! Yes, it was a relief to know that was the reason and not because she didn’t want to see me or because she was in a relationship! Haha!
Our first interaction continued throughout the day, and the next day, I decided to call her. We talked for hours and hours without even realizing it. I remember I was watching a Tagalog show on TFC called “On the Wings of Love,” and funny enough, she also watched the show and knew about it as well! It made me like her even more because she was always interested in anything I had to say! I started developing strong feelings for her throughout our first week of interactions. I would wake up, and the first thing I'd do was text her, and I would call her as soon as I got home from work. Butterflies at its finest! This was when I first thought to myself, “Wow…I really think she’s the one.”
I fell in love with Jaycee right from the start. Over the phone, while she was in Texas, I would make silly jokes that not too many people would find funny, but she always seemed to laugh at my sense of humor. She gave me a sense of importance in my life, and I started to feel like I was becoming an important person in her life. This, I said to myself, was what I had been longing for – to be a significant other to someone special. I had actually been in a bad place before I met her, and she came at the right time. As I mentioned earlier, I was working on myself, and it is true that when you focus on yourself, good things will happen. Well, she is the best thing to happen to me! As our relationship became more serious, she showed me profound ways of caring for me. She inspires me to always do better. I am always reminded by God that He gave me someone very important and special. For that, I am forever grateful.
Today, I am honored to say, and for God to seal our destiny together forever, that Jaycee and I are finally getting married and are going to spend the rest of our lives together. We have had so many spontaneous adventures, and I am looking forward to new ones! I am excited for our next chapter in life. Wherever it takes us, I will be by her side no matter what.
