In Lieu of Gifts, Please Consider a Donation to the Albert Lowe Museum.

The Albert Lowe Museum is the first museum in all of the Bahamas. The museum was opened in 1976 by well know Bahamian artist Alton Lowe and remained open to the public for 43 years, until Hurricane Dorian. The museum is housed in a home built in 1825, one of the few homes to survive a major hurricane in 1932. The museum houses original art from Alton Lowe as well as artifacts, ships, and photo galleries of Green Turtle Cay’s long history that dates back to the Revolutionary War. The museum was severely damaged in Hurricane Dorian and is slowly being restored. Funds are needed to complete repairs to the building and to preserve the art and displays. A milestone was recently reached with the re-opening of the main room on December 16, 2023. However, so much more remains to be done and this progress is only funded by donations.

We’ll make sure we have the opportunity to visit the Albert Lowe Museum in May. In the meantime, your generous support means a lot to Jay and I and to the Green Turtle Cay community!
