About Green Turtle Cay

Welcome to Green Turtle Cay!

Green Turtle Cay is one of the barrier islands off mainland Great Abaco. It is about 3 miles long, and a half mile wide. Hurricane Dorian devastated the island in September 2019, but a resilient population has rebuilt and restored the local character that gives the island its unique charm.

The historic town of New Plymouth, settled by British loyalists after the America Revolution, is located on the south end of the island. A quaint settlement where most of the local population resides complete with family-owned grocery stores, a liquor store, shops, restaurants, and the best local watering holes. We encourage everyone to spend time with the locals to get the full Green Turtle experience.

The island is easy to navigate with a golf cart. Town is a one-way loop, down the hill and around the harbor. You can take the paved road out of town and wind north on the island, past the Barrett Family home (Bita Bay House), the Green Turtle Club, and toward Bluff House on the North End. Follow the signs. And if you get lost—you won’t be lost long—all roads lead to something wonderful.
