Our official story is that we met at a Risk Management meeting held by David at Beta Theta Pi at Purdue University. Julia stayed after the meeting chatting, and David was very interested in her. It only took him 6 months to ask her out.

The first time he asked, Julia couldn't come to the fraternity sponto because she "had an exam." David didn't believe her, but Julia still claims this was true.

The second time he asked, Julia said she'd check her schedule. She had no intention of doing so.

The third time he asked, Julia said "finnnnneeeee," after her mom said, "Julia, just go. What if he is the one?!" and bridesmaid Meredith said, "He's friends with Cameron Murray (groomsman), he's got to be a good guy."

So, Julia went to Beta Barn Dance - and had the time of her life. They bought their favorite drinks for each other at Harry's Chocolate Shop, and Julia did not use the escape plan she made.

Julia was leaving the following semester for 4 months on a Semester at Sea. Everyone thought they were crazy for deciding to date anyway, but David showed up in every way imaginable. They emailed back and forth and snuck in FaceTimes whenever Julia had access to WiFi. It was worth it.

We spent the next 6.5 years having a blast; drinking at Harry's, doing long-distance while David was interning in Houston, sometimes studying, moving to Chicago, vacationing with each other's families, moving in together, adopting a cat, and FINALLY getting engaged on May 26th, 2024.

Our unofficial story is that during freshman orientation, Julia left her number on David's dorm room white board. She still denies this happened, but there is unfortunately photo evidence. David likes this version best.
