Our Wedding

Where to begin, Mark and Julia met years and years ago as kids through family and friend gatherings.&nbsp; As the years went on, they were always friends. Mark ran Julia's hockey try outs back in the day and always wanted to be on the side of the ice she was on (if you know, you know). In high-school they started spending more time together but since Mark was older, he went off to college in North Bay and Julia moved to Toronto to finish high-school and pursue her hockey dreams. But they never lost contact- always stayed in touch through the years.&nbsp; Fast-forward a few years, it was the summer of 2016 when Julia &amp; Mark reconnected and have been inseparable ever since. Starting with a long-distance relationship while Mark was back in Haliburton working and Julia was in New Hampshire attending university. Mark would visit whenever the time was right and Julia made it home for all holidays and summers where they spent all their time together.&nbsp; When COVID hit and Julia moved back home to Haliburton it became clear that nothing was going to come in their way. They had made it through long-distance for so long that it only made them stronger.&nbsp; Finally, after many years, in July 2022, Mark got down on one knee and popped the question that in Julia's eyes, was the easiest "yes". They can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter of their life with everyone!

The Highlands Motel is about 2km to the location of the wedding. The rooms will be blocked under "The Vasey Wedding" until end of April 2023.

Travel

A beautiful 18 hole golf course minutes away from the wedding location. There are rental clubs if needed! If you would like to golf, we recommend you call ahead of time as weekends in the summer tend to fill up quickly!

There is multiple walking trails, disc golf, a local eatery, a local brewery and more!

Abbey Gardens

The Rhubarb is a fancier restaurant close to the venue. If you want to eat here, we would recommend making a reservation ahead of time as they will book up quickly as the summer moves along considering it is a Friday in July.
