For the more historically minded, Colonial Williamsburg is also worth the drive. The town is free to wander, but there is a ticket fee if you would like to explore the museums and exhibits. Be sure to also grab a bite to eat at one of the great restaurants nearby such as The Cheese Shop or The Blue Talon!

A free park that was once a sprawling estate, Maymont contains exquisite Japanese and Italian gardens, as well as a nature center with otters, eagles, and bears. Pick up sandwiches from Coppola's in Carytown or Garnett's in The Fan and have yourself a picnic!

For the early riser, be sure to check out the RVA Big Market on Saturday morning from 9-12. The RVA Big Market has dozens of vendors offering everything from produce to flowers to fresh meat and seafood to crafts and everything in between. Just be sure to give yourself enough time to be ready by the wedding later in the afternoon!
