Our Wedding

Our story started on a fall night in 2017. Both Tarak and Julia were out at a rooftop bar in Washington DC. Tarak was suddenly taken by Julia's beauty and he knew he had to meet her. He told a few jokes, talked about his family, and the future purchase of an accent chair, and Julia was smitten. After a few drinks and some good laughs, they went for pizza. He then asked for her number before they parted and the rest is history. Tarak's opening line was "What are you celebrating tonight?" Little did they know one day she would answer with "our wedding!"

Our Story

After many dates and weeks of courting, Julia and Tarak decided it was time to put things to the test and go on their first trip. Julia had a friend in Charlotte, North Carolina, so they booked a hotel and ventured on their first road trip. They compromised on their interests by making time for both a play and a Hornets basketball game. The weekend was such fun that they decided to go big after that. With their shared love of travel and amazing friends to go with them, they went to Breckenridge, Poconos, Portugal, Ireland, England and tried to squeeze in Peru but in March of 2020 COVID said "not so fast". Even after Julia went down to Atlanta for school, they still made time for adventures together.

The Story of the Traveling Goats

On April 8, 2021 while on spring break in St. Thomas, Tarak and Julia went for a walk on the beach. After few minutes of quiet peaceful walking Tarak asked a kind beach goer to "take a picture of us". He secretly turned on the video and got down on one knee. As the kind beach goer shouted in excitement, Julia couldn't believe her eyes and said "OH WOWWWW" and eventually "YES".

Location: Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay- Regatta Pavilion Attire: Semi-Formal, both Indian and American outfits are welcome. This will be an outdoor ceremony followed by a small reception with music and light fare. Guests to arrive at 12:30 with the Ceremony starting promptly at 1:00.

Mehndi and Sangeet

6:00 PM

Location: Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay- Choptank Ballroom Attire: Casual, both Indian and American outfits are welcome. This event will include a night of henna, good food, drinks, and dancing. There will be a small program with dances from family and friends, followed by traditional dancing of Dandiya Raas and Garba. Dancing tutorials to follow :) Any ladies who would like to have henna done on their hands are invited to do so during this event.&nbsp;

April 22, 2023

Baraat and Hindu Ceremony 

10:00 AM

Location: Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay- Manor Lawn Attire: Semi-Formal, both Indian and American outfits are welcome. The Baraat will start at 10:00 AM outside the hotel with a procession to the Manor Lawn. Both the Bride and Groom's family are welcome to walk with the groom in the Baraat. The Hindu Ceremony will start after the Baraat has commenced. This will be an outside event followed by a vegetarian lunch in the Chesapeake Ballroom.

Cocktail Hour and Wedding Reception

Location: Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay- Chesapeake Ballroom Attire: Semi-Formal, both Indian and American outfits are welcome. Join us for dinner and dancing as we celebrate the joining of two cultures and two families!
