Our Story

Julia's Story

It was September 24th, 2009. I was a freshman in college and was feeling the pressure from both school and life in general on that particular day. My roommate at the time convinced me to join her at a party, and I'd figured why not right? Anything to shake off

these blues I was feeling.

It all happened at once... I was playing beer pong (no judgment please) and I saw a guy enter the room and could not believe my eyes. I was smitten by this guy immediately... He had a relaxed nature to him, he was handsome and unbelievably charming. But there was no way I had the guts to talk to him.... Until..... Well you know what happens after a few drinks, what do they call it- liquid courage? Yeah that's what it was. I finally had the courage to talk to him while he was playing beer pong with his close friend (okay maybe I had too much liquid courage in me). But it worked. We chatted the whole night and he politely offered me a ride home with a friend who was picking him up. Well folks the rest is history, well kind of... As every relationship goes there is a progression to when you actually start dating, these days I think it's called being Facebook official!

The morning after I woke up to go to class and had a text message waiting for me when I woke up asking if I had woken up in time for class... He already cared about me.

After a few dates, where Alex will tell you that I didn't eat anything, which is the truth BUT... It wasn't because I had already eaten a lot that day (that's what I told him), it was because he made me so incredibly nervous and I couldn't help but being bashful around him. (Which for a lot of you may seem weird because I am not shy whatsoever. Period.)

After a week or so of talking to each other, Alex asked me to drive up the Poudre Canyon with him to go to Tom Bennetts creek, Alex's favorite camping spot to hang out for a few hours. I remember it was a Sunday... Shouldn't boys be watching football on Sunday's? Anyway, we parked off the road and walked around and I couldn't help but think how perfect this day was. I was with an incredibly handsome guy, I was in the mountains (my favorite place) and I was happiest I thought I could be... Until he kissed me. I'll leave the mushy part there and won't go on.

Well a week or so later we were dating. He even asked me if I would be his girlfriend... We were 18 and 19 okay?

Our fairytale has been just like any fairytale, where there are trials and tribulations but there is a happy ending... Well or a happy beginning.

The day Alex asked me to be his wife, August 9th, 2014 is the day our happy beginning started. It was the best day of my life so far. Nestled away in a secret garden at his grandparents home in Nova Scotia, Canada, while watching the sunset on an oceanic cliff, my best friend got on one knee and asked me to be with him forever. After five years of dating the day I had been dreaming about was finally here and it was perfect. I think I said yes but I don't really remember because I was crying so hard.

That's my story....

I can't wait to share the beginning of our forever with you guys. August 27th, 2016 cannot come fast enough.

Alex's Story

Julia and I first met at a College Part in late September during my sophomore year at Colorado State. As I stumbled through the door with some friends, I noticed a beautiful blonde girl wearing an Ed Hardy T-Shirt in the corner of the room. My initial thought was, "She is absolutely beautiful, there is no way she could be single!" I still decided to do my best to play it cool and see what happens. Sure enough, I some how tricked her into talking with me. We hit it off and at the end of the night, i asked her if she would need a ride home from my Designated Driver.

It didn't take long for me to figure out that Julia was special. She was and is the life of the party. She is everyone's friend and I became lucky enough to call her my girlfriend. Over the course of the next few years we enjoyed each other's company on the mountain while snowboarding each winter, Graduated from CSU, and Julia and I have been fortunate enough to travel to Mexico, Canada and Europe together several times and see some of the world together.

I am so proud to say that Julia will become my wife and can't wait for you to join us on August 27th-when I marry my best friend.
