We love the North Shore and hope you will too! All suggestions here are for the area, as Boston also has a lot on offer but there are plenty of guides depending on what you are interested in (science, history, architecture, art, shopping, nature).
Great place to choose your own adventure hiking--- take a look at the trails online before heading out!
Great place to walk around a reservoir and then out to the ocean! So gorgeous
If the weather is warm enough, this is a great beach!!
A great little beach on Endicott (Mike's alma matter) property!
Excellent sailing tours in Salem! We loved their sunset sail!
Tours are around 4 hours long, but well worth it!
Salem in October is a ton of fun!! Lots of Halloween goings on!
Mini golf, Richardson's Ice Cream, lots of fun!
Mike's favorite! Location of our welcome reception. A public course where you could play a few holes if you want
Julie worked here in college!
Great food on the beach! What more could you want?
Cajun food at an affordable price! Super great seafood boils
Italian food in a beautiful setting!
Cidery in Salem, great variety and nice outdoor section
Amazing Mediterranean food! Get the munchkins
Call before you go, we hope the taproom will reopen before October. If not, look out for Bent Water on local menus!
Excellent, very rich, food. Reservations are necessary
Really great, reasonably priced Mexican food! The margaritas are wonderful
Vegan cafe. This is the Salem location, but there are a few others around the Boston area
This shopping center has it all! A variety of restaurants, some with outdoor seating, and shops for last minute items (maybe your best friend brought *the same exact dress* to the wedding and you don't want to twin?)
Our favorite areas on the North Shore are:
Lynn - our city! Not a typical tourist hotspot, but it is a real bustling place. Check out the murals downtown, museums, parks, and beach, along with the historic Diamond District homes
Beverly - this is where Mike went to college and was living when we met! We had our first date, and many subsequent dates here
Salem - a great, historic, seaside city. It may be a little crazy in October with the Halloween happenings, but there is a lot to do that is not centered around the Witch Trials
Gloucester - a beautiful seaside town with a rich history, great brewery and restaurants, and lots to do!
Rockport - another charming old fishing village! Great walkable business district with boutiques. Check if places are available as it will be past summer season
Nahant - One of the best beaches in the area! Great playgrounds on both ends of the beach, along with Tides restaurant. Walk to downtown Lynn, as well!
