Our Story

Through His Eyes: One booth, One Blonde, and One Lucky Couple

We originally planned to each write our own version of the story and combine them; but Nick wrote his first, and it was so beautiful that I couldn’t top it.

Our Story From Nick:

It all started the way many great love stories do—at Bunkers Bar in Minneapolis. After a fun day at the Twins game with some friends, our group decided to head over to Bunkers to meet up with one of my friends' girlfriends. When we got there, a beautiful blonde girl with an amazing smile instantly caught my eye sitting in the same booth as my friend's girlfriend. I wish I could say I had some smooth opening line or perfectly timed move, but the truth is it was one of those nights where the music was loud, the vibes were right, and somehow I found the courage to slide in next to Julie and start up a conversation. After a few minutes of speaking with her, it became clear to me that there was something special about this girl. We ended up talking for the next several hours like we’d known each other forever. From the very beginning, she was absolutely hilarious and charming in an effortless way and smart in a way that made me immediately want to step up my own game. I walked in that night thinking it was just another night out… and walked out knowing something felt different.

From there, things continued to progress—mostly in the form of weekend hangouts at the infamous ‘Haskells’ bar watching college football with groups of friends and also of trying as many restaurants around Minnesota as humanly possible together. Anyone who knows Julie knows how much of a ‘foodie’ she is, a group that I consider myself a part of as well. In Julie I found a true restaurant partner in crime, and we have shared many amazing memories trying out different spots together (shoutout 112 eatery as our current #1 seed). Julie somehow manages to be both adventurous and decisive (a rare and impressive combo), which means I’m always well-fed and never bored.

As we continued dating, Julie and I kept finding other things that we loved to do together- running, hiking, binge watching shows, our never ending quest to find Minnesota’s best ice cream, making fun of each other, etc. Getting to know her family and how amazing they are also really solidified in my mind how lucky I was to have ever met Julie. We have all shared a lot of laughs and great memories at various different family events and summer weekends up at the cabin at Crosslake. I also really appreciated getting to spend time around a group of people that enjoy giving Julie a hard time for her many loveable ‘quirks’ as much as I do.

The longer I got to know Julie, the more and more I got to see firsthand what makes her such a truly special person. She is an amazing friend, daughter, sister, and aunt. There is no one more loyal than Julie, and seeing how important her family is to her makes me very excited for the future family we will be able to start together someday. When it came time for us to make major milestone decisions such as moving in together and getting engaged, it was an absolute no-brainer for me as I had mountains of evidence of how God had blessed me with sending me such an amazing person to share my life with. Her insanely high level talent for baking and the recent steady supply of homemade sourdough bread around the house ain't all that bad either.

I feel incredibly lucky to be marrying someone who is as intelligent as she is hilarious, as driven as she is kind, and who somehow makes life better just by being herself. From Bunkers to Crosslake and everywhere in between, I can’t wait to keep writing this story with her.

Nick has a way of making the ordinary feel meaningful and the meaningful feel effortless. He’s steady, loyal, thoughtful, and quietly hilarious in a way that keeps life light and grounded all at once. He is the calm to my intensity, the logic to my ambition, and the person who has supported every dream, goal, and wild idea I’ve had, without hesitation.

I feel just as lucky as he says he does. From Bunkers to Crosslake and everywhere in between, I am endlessly grateful that I get to marry the man who first slid into that booth and never stopped choosing me.

Nick, thank you for loving me the way you do, for writing our story so beautifully, and for being the best part of it. I can’t wait to keep writing the next chapters together, side by side. 🤍

We can’t wait to celebrate with you in Minneapolis on August 1, 2026!
