Once upon a swipe…

Our story began like a modern-day fairy tale—with a twist of fate and a little mischief. It was February 2022, and I was living in the scenic charm of British Columbia. One evening, out with my girlfriends and lifted by a few drinks and a lot of laughter, we decided to spice things up by swapping phones and diving into each other’s dating apps. In a playful moment of curiosity (and perhaps a dash of chaos), my friends changed my postal code from White Rock to Calgary—after all, I was planning to move to Alberta soon.

The next morning brought some sore heads and a few regrets about letting friends run wild with your phone. But unbeknownst to me, something had already been set in motion.

Enter Daniel.

He sent me a message on Hinge not long after. What started as a few lighthearted exchanges quickly turned into daily conversations filled with laughter, curiosity, and connection. But there was a hiccup—Daniel thought he’d been catfished. (For those unfamiliar, think: false advertising with a romantic twist.) When he discovered I was still in BC, not Alberta, he wasn’t exactly thrilled. It meant waiting three months before we could meet in person.

But Daniel, ever the patient soul, chose to play the long game.

Over those three months, he stayed up late to keep me company on my late-night drives home from work. We FaceTimed, messaged constantly, and slowly peeled back the layers of who we were—our dreams, quirks, values, and the kind of love we were both hoping to find.

When I finally arrived in Alberta, everything just clicked. We dove into life together—hiking, picnicking, exploring new restaurants, biking through the city, sipping drinks on the patio, and playing games. But our favorite moments were the quiet ones at home, where we truly got to know each other over Daniel’s incredible cooking. Six months later, we moved in together.

Fast forward to April 26th, at Upper Kananaskis Lake—the place where Daniel proposed. It was the very place Daniel had taken me on our first hike. The sun was shining, the world was still, and we were completely alone. It was there, surrounded by nature and memories, that he asked me to marry him. It was perfect.

Today, our life is full of joy, laughter, and a few extra pounds thanks to our shared love of food and Daniel’s culinary skills. In March, we welcomed a new member to our little family—a spirited two-year-old rescue cat named Cashew, who has brought even more love into our home.

And now, we’re counting down the days to February 28, 2026, when we’ll say “I do” in beautiful Canmore, surrounded by our closest family and friends. We can’t wait to begin this next chapter—hand in hand, heart to heart, and always with a little bit of adventure.
