Our Story

Joe and Justyna met in the summer of 2019 in Chicago. He being the wide-eyed newcomer and she being the local veteran, the two enjoyed bonding over all the city had to offer. With a seemingly endless supply of sidewalk, the two laid the foundation of their relationship over long walks and talks throughout the city.As for many, the COVID-19 pandemic changed a lot of plans and priorities for the couple. Diamonds are made under pressure, and the stress and pressure of the past few years has certainly solidified the couples' love and commitment to one another.You'll rarely find the two of them sitting still, choosing to spend much of their time rock climbing, biking, running, swimming, dancing, or playing in the park with their rambunctious pup, Yurei. When they do decide to take a break, you'll find them reading at the beach, picnicking in a park, or obsessing over their favorite shows and movies.In March of 2021, Joe proposed to Justyna after sending her on a scavenger hunt throughout the entire city, highlighting key moments of their relationship. The hunt ended in front of the Wrigley Field sign, where the couple had their first date and spent much of their time. After, what can only be described as word vomit and a whirlwind blur of emotion, Joe realized that Justyna had said 'Yes!' and the rest is history.The couple are beyond excited to celebrate their marriage in July with you as they start what will be an incredible life together filled with love and joy.

Magdalena is Justyna's younger sister and day one! Growing up together they were like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and into adulthood they've grown to be more than just sisters, but best friends. Mags has been there for all the ups and downs and has to most incredible sense of humor and personality. They always have fun and can't wait to celebrate their way through life alongside one another! She holds a very dear and special place in her sister's heart. 

Magdalena Skowronski

Adrianna (Annie) and the bride met in Daisy girl scouts in kindergarten and were both a part of Troop 618. Between orchestra, girls scouts, bonding over their many siblings and large families, cross country, dance, and so much more...they have a lifelong friendship. Annie and Justyna have been inseparable since high school. She is a true friend, travel partner, running buddy, and soul sister.  

Adrianna Siebenaler

Justyna and Jessi have been best friends since junior high where they met while singing in choir (Jessi) and playing violin in orchestra (Justyna) and having to wait for zero hour classes at school with music programs.  Jessi committed to polishism at an early age and has always been a dedicated friend in explaining how sarcasm works. Their friendship has been built on many laughs, bonding over music and theatre thursdays, movie nights at the Winston's (who were always generous to host us over!), and connecting at the heart of who we are as people. Jessi has made Justyna a better person and will be a lifelong friend.

Bella and Justyna met in Mrs. Fink's 5th grade class and while playing violin in orchestra. In junior high, the friend group came together when all of the ladies realized we were all friends with each other: Bella, Jessi, Annie, and Justyna. In high school, Bella and Justyna taught swimming lessons to kids together when she introduced her to Kamil (Justyna's family friend) and the two have been together since (the rest is history)! The two ladies have strived to back each other up in academics, sports, music, family, love, and life since the beginning as best friends. Bella has a loving and generous heart and has always been an understanding companion to Justyna.

Isabella Escobedo

Natalia and Justyna's paths first crossed in high school through the music program and Spanish class. They both chose Loyola University of Chicago as their college and studied alongside each other while pursuing degrees amidst many coffee dates. They were roommates in college, goofy best friends who share in their love of all things Polish, and Natalie has been the big sister Justyna never had. They understand each other, sync together, and pick up where they left off every time they hang out.

Emily Kate and Justyna met through the Catholic Studies program at Loyola University Chicago. They both worked a the Hank Center for the Catholic Intellectual Heritage where they became close friends and bonded over their love of music, religion, literature, swing dancing, and life as they encouraged each other to grow into boss women who take on the world. Emily has been a dear best friend to Justyna for many years now and is truly there for her when she needs it the most. Her leadership, friendship, and kinship are not overlooked and she has the purest heart. Their relationship fosters and grows from a distance with Emily in Boston as they continue to share life's stories, special moments, and their love as dog moms.

Hailey is Joe's younger sister and soon-to-be Justyna's as well! Growing up with so many brothers, Justyna always longed for more sisters, and is lucky to have a growing relationship with Hailey as a part of the family.  Hailey is considerate, witty, caring, and loves to keep her big brother in line! She has a heart of gold, and truly cares for everyone she gets to know. Her bright personality makes her a light in the world and a gift to anyone who has the pleasure to know her!

Marysia is Justyna's younger cousin, but more than that she is a soul-sister and true friend. Despite their age difference, the two of them have bonded on a very deep level from a very early age.  They share a mutual love for Selena Gomez, boy bands, rom-com movies, and always have the best time together no matter what they're doing! They both hold a deep spot in their hearts for missions of care for creation and treating all people with dignity and respect.

Julianna is Justyna's mini-me and twinny with the best laugh and most wonderful sense of humor. She has a compassionate and empathetic heart and she's always fun to be around. Jula is wiser beyond her years and truly cares for others.

Łucja is Justyna's youngest sister and the sassiest of the bunch. This little miss spitfire and Justyna always have the best time and love to be their goofy selves together! Their sisterly bond and relationship has grown so much over the years!

Sabina is one of Justyna's youngest cousins and the two have been calling each other "best friend" and sharing hugs and dances since she was just a toddler! She fits right into the family and is just like another sister to Justyna.

Izabelka is Justyna's youngest cousin and an adorable princess! Her bold personality, kindness, and fun-spirit make her an absolute joy to be around! As the oldest and youngest girl cousins, the two have shared a bond since Izzy was very young.

Kevin is Joe's brother and Justyna's soon-to-be brother-in-law. Even though he is two years younger than the groom, Kevin has always been a man of wisdom and knowledge, which Joe has leaned on and learned from. Kevin has been by Joe's side through all the highs and the lows of growing up. He is one of the most practical and hard working people Joe knows, making him someone he has looked up to and respected. Kevin always has a level head and clear mind, making him one of the greatest sources of advice for the couple. 
Growing up, Kevin and Joe loved running around their grandparents homes, playing hide-and-go seek, building legos, and playing soccer together. 
Now they're planning life steps, debating world issues, and enjoying catching up whenever their busy schedules allow. 
Joe is honored to have Kevin as his best man, and can't wait to have him beside him as he and Justyna celebrate their big day.
Kevin is a nurse by day and real estate mogul by night, working at Promedica Toledo Hospital in the cardiac ICU.

Cody is one of Joe's oldest and best friends, having known him since preschool. Joe and Cody grew up playing soccer, Pokemon, and Playstation together.  Their interests shifted to music, poker, and still more soccer. The two have been through all the classic coming of age stages of life together, and are now embarking on one of the greatest moments in life: getting married. Not to mention, they're getting married only a month apart from each other. Joe and Cody have been one of each others' biggest supporters by cheering each other on, and encouraging on another to strive to achieve their dreams. 
Joe is honored to have Cody stand up for him and Justyna in their wedding, as well as support them on one of the biggest days of their lives. 
Cody is engaged to Jacqueline Sevra, and will be married in Dayton, Ohio just weeks before Joe and Justyna's wedding. The couple were excited to welcome their baby boy Blake Ickes in 2021. 
Cody is a dual business owner of 'Cody Ickes Insurance Agencies' in Toledo, Ohio.

Dom is one of Joe's best friends from chiropractic school, as well as being a fellow functional neurologist. Dom and Joe became friends, despite having gone to rival undergraduate universities (another University of Toledo alum), which Dom never fails to remind Joe of his school's football superiority. Dom and Joe helped aid each other through their doctoral degrees, post-doctoral neurology training, the early stages of their careers, as well as life in general. The two spent a year as roommates in school, which consisted of surviving rats, cockroaches, hurricanes, and debilitating Atlanta snowstorms. Joe cherishes his relationship with Dom and their ability to have deep conversations, in depth discussions on neurology, and meaningful perspectives on life. 
Dominic is a Chiropractic Neurologist seeing patients in the Atlanta, GA area. He is engaged and will marry his fiancé, Leslie Parish in August 2022. 

Dominic Fetterly

Nate is one of Joe's best friends from chiropractic school. Nate was the first person that Joe actually met on day one of chiropractic orientation, and just can't shake him to this day. Nate and Joe love giving each other a hard time, but deep down have a profound respect for one another and a relationship that pushes the other to grow and step outside their individual comfort zone. Providing deep conversation about life, spirituality, and patient care, while also being able to tell light-hearted jokes and banters, Nate always provides the heart and soul of the proverbial party. The couple are honored to have Nate as a part of their big day, and the groom is honored to be a part of Nate's big day just a couple weeks earlier. Nate is engaged, and will be married just two weeks prior to Joe and Justyna's wedding to Emily Stockwell.
Nathan is a Chiropractor seeing patients in the Grand Rapids/Muskegon, MI area.

Nathan Elliott

Josh is one of the groom's oldest and best friends, having known him since kindergarten. Josh and Joe bonded over late nights playing Halo, Pokemon cards, running cross country, a friendly neighborhood tee-peeing here and there (allegedly), and figuring out adolescence with all the big questions that come with growing up. Josh and Joe have always encouraged and pushed each other to be their best, especially in academic endeavors. Today, Josh and Joe still keep up on their mutual interests of rock climbing, video games, and each others' healthcare/scientific endeavors. No matter how long it's been since they've seen each other, they can always pick right back up where they left off. 
Josh is engaged to Irum Syed, and the couple plan to marry in Vietnam in the near future.
Josh is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Toledo in the field of biomedical engineering.

Josh Breidenbach

Mitchell is one of Joe's longest and best friends, having known him since kindergarten. Mitchell and Joe have a ton of great memories together, stemming from playing legos at each others' houses, geeking out over Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings, playing poker in Joe's basement, attending their first concert together, and being mediocre at sports whenever they got the chance.  While they may have both started out as the archetypical dorks, Mitchell has since been able to gain some 'cool guy' cred by moving to Nashville to pursue his dream of becoming a musician. Living in Atlanta, Joe was able to visit Mitch from time to time (mostly for the Hot Chicken). Joe still tries to see him perform whenever he makes his way to Chicago. Mitchell currently tours across the country with country star, Trey Lewis . He and his wife Hannah welcomed their baby girl June Gosche in 2019 and are expecting their second child in July 2022.

Dominik is Justyna's oldest, younger brother and soon to be Joe's brother-in-law. Dominik is a kind hearted, empathetic, and caring person. No matter what stresses the couple is going through, Dominik is always there to lend a listening ear. Another huge fan of Star Wars and Marvel, Dominik and Joe were able to hit it off immediately and share in their geeky past-times. 
Dominik is currently finishing up his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois Chicago in architecture.

Adrian is Justyna's younger brother, and Joe's soon-to-be brother-in-law. Adrian is one of the most light-hearted and easy-going of all the Skowronski clan. Joe has definitely loved Adrian's relaxed personality and enjoys playing shinny and splendor with him. He is a decent fantasy hockey player, but can't hold a stick to Joe's team. All-in-all, Adrian is a pretty chill guy. 10/10 would recommend. 👌

Krzys is Justyna's brother and Joe's soon-to-be brother-in-law. Krzys is who Joe wants to be when he grows up. He is naturally skilled in most things he tries. When Krzys and Joe aren't competing over sharing the same birthday or growing the tallest avocado plant, they can find mutual ground in exchanging cooking tips and their love for Justyna.

Szymon is Justyna's younger brother and Joe's soon-to-be brother-in-law. Every family needs a brother to test the seriousness of his sister's significant other, and Szymon has taken the lead on this role. It wasn't easy, but Joe has slowly but surely passed each test that Szymon has thrown his way (so he thinks). He always likes to keep Joe on his toes, but Joe is pretty sure that he's finally won him over, as Szymon never fails to remind him that he will be his brother soon.

Piotrus is Justyna's brother,  god-son, and Joe's soon-to-be brother-in-law. Piotrus is part man, part math genius, as he is already filing Joe's tax returns. He an energetic ball of fun and never passes on an opportunity to bust a move in 'Just Dance'. Piotrus is very excited to be a part of his big sister's big day.

Tomus is Justyna's youngest brother and Joe's soon-to-be youngest brother-in-law. He is a man of few words, but many smiles. It's a big responsibility to be the lord of the ring, and the couple wouldn't entrust the responsibility of ring bearer to anyone else.
