It all started when Kaci's Aunt Valorie and Caleb's Aunt Lisa were roommates in college. They decided that their niece and nephew were both single this year and that they should try setting them up. Val had told Kaci in May of 2023 that she should get to know this "Caleb Neuhalfen" when Kaci wasn't interested in dating and moved on with her knee surgeries and recovery. Although Kaci looked him up, he didn't have any updated pictures since 2016, so she was skeptical.

Later on, Val talked to Caleb's mom Lori and she was all in on making it happen between the couple. Lori had searched for pictures of Kaci on Facebook and was showing Caleb any chance she got saying "She's so your type, she's beautiful, you should ask her out." Caleb was also skeptical at this point and to please his mom he added Kaci as a friend in October 2023, to his surprise Kaci added him back in a couple of hours.

He soon worked up the courage to message her and ask "Did you know our aunts are scheming to get us together?" To which Kaci replied, "Yes, I've known for months." And to Caleb's surprise, he had just found out about Kaci less than a couple of weeks ago. After a couple of bantered messages were exchanged Caleb had asked Kaci to go to Shania Twain with him since his friend could no longer go.

Flash forward to the first date, Caleb showed up to pick up Kaci and he had brought a bouquet of her favorite flowers...lilies. Kaci wanted to get there early, cause she knew it was going to be busy downtown. They grabbed supper and drinks at the Mattress Factory and after a couple hours there they were ready to rock out with Shania Twain. It was an amazing concert for both of them and Caleb went to drop Kaci off and surprised her with a gift bag full of gifts from dark chocolate, her favorite animals cut out from wood, and a letter. Kaci was taken aback by this and had no idea what to say because he had thought all of this through so well. Which led to a second date.

The second date was relived for their engagement day because it was so special for both of them. Caleb had picked up Kaci at her parent's house (first time meeting them) and planned out a date in Yankton, SD. The first stop was sushi and this was Caleb's first time trying it! The second stop was the Boathouse for Axe throwing and drinks. This showed the competitive side of both of them and brought out some fun banter between them. The third stop was the Ice House, a spot where the couple had always heard of but had never been. There they bought a 6 pack of glass bottles and got to break them under the deck where they were sitting. The fourth stop was under the stars in the back of Caleb's truck. Caleb and Kaci had always dreamed of a date where they went star gazing in the bed of a pickup truck and it came true that night. Flash forward a 6 months later the couple was engaged after Caleb put together a date day and hid eggs at all the stops from their second date with notes of how he remembers Kaci on their second date and expressed his admiration and love for her.
