The story of Alex and Kaity began when they both decided to go to Penn State in 2014. Alex came from Nesconset, Long Island and Kaity from Sparta, New Jersey. Both decided to join Greek life (Alex in Delta Chi, Kaity in Alpha Phi) and ended up participating in “Greek Sing” (a musical put on by the freshmen) during their first semester. It required a lot of practices after class, so Alex and Kaity began spending a lot of time together and became friends. They were both at Delta Chi Winter Formal in December 2014, when Alex admitted to Kaity that he liked her, and they had their first kiss! (For any Penn Staters - this was in the DChi basement splatter paint room, how romantic).
Spring semester came, and the two started becoming more of a couple - walking to class together, attending each others dated functions, and feelings grew stronger. For Kaity’s 19th birthday, Alex planned a date in Central Park with a sushi dinner after. It was on that date that he asked her to be his girlfriend!
The two returned to Penn State that Fall and were inseparable by that point. They loved being able to experience college together, while also enjoying it with their friends, including study abroad! During the spring semester of their junior year, Alex studied in Prague and Kaity embarked on a multi-city program through Paris, Rome, and Berlin. Although they weren’t based in the same city, it gave them each the chance to visit where the other studied, and also meet in new places throughout the semester! During their studies abroad, Kaity and Alex visited some unbelievable and romantic places together: Prague, Barcelona, Rome, Copenhagen, Munich, Amsterdam, and Split, Croatia. The memories they made in these places will last a lifetime, and kick-started the travel bug they still have!
Alex and Kaity graduated from Penn State in 2018, and both took jobs in New York City. They planned date nights and fun activities (like Summer Stage in Central Park and the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon), and Alex would stay with Kaity in Hoboken while he still lived in Long Island. They moved in together in Hoboken during the Summer of 2021, and adopted their pup Ozzy in January of 2022, which made their home complete!
On September 17, 2022, Kaity thought she was going to brunch with friends at the Boathouse in Central Park. When she arrived, she was surprisingly greeted by Alex and their friend Shannon (with a camera), and Alex proposed in the place where they had their first date! They quickly Facetimed their parents to share the great news, and Alex said they would be waiting for them back at the apartment with lunch (since there was no “brunch” after all!). To Kaity’s surprise, when they got back to the apartment they were greeted by 50+ friends and family who came to celebrate their love and this new chapter in their lives. Kaity was absolutely blown away, as she had no idea this was happening, but even more surprised that so many people had kept this secret without spilling!
Kaity and Alex are so excited to be getting married and to celebrate their love with all of you! They feel so incredibly lucky to have such an amazing and loving group of family and friends to share this moment with. If you made it this far reading - thank you, and we love you!!
