Q + A

What should I wear to the events? Can I wear Indian clothes?

I know a lot of you guys have asked what you need to wear for all the different events. We want you to be comfortable in what you are wearing so please wear whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.

With that being said.... OF COURSE YOU CAN WEAR INDIAN CLOTHES!! We would love for you to immerse yourself in the festivities and wear Indian attire if you would like to.

Where can I buy Indian clothes?

A: We have never bought Indian clothes online but here are some websites that we know other people have ordered from in the past. If you live in Chicago you can also go to Devon Street to look at outfits in person at the Indian stores.

What is the event Garba/Raas and should I to expect?

A: Garba is a type of traditional Gujrathi dance that is associated with the religious holiday Navratri. Garba is also incorporated in Gujrathi weddings as a night of music and dancing.

Clothing during this event is usually flowy and colorful. Again feel free to wear Indian or Western clothes.

The first part of the evening is Garba everyone dancing in a circle to coordinated steps, similar to line dancing in a way. Then there is Raas which is a partner dance with dandiya (sticks) to coordinated steps as well.
