Kameron & Will

Our Story

Kameron and Will both graduated highschool in 2018, participating in fine arts and performing at some of the same events without knowing it. They both went to undergrad in northern Iowa — Will at Wartburg College and Kameron at the University of Northern Iowa. They both knew they wanted to go to law school and made the difficult decision to do so after just 3 years of undergrad, the last of which was a COVID year. They explored their law school options and decided Iowa Law was the fit for them.

Their paths finally crossed at Iowa Law. In their first semester of classes, Kameron and Will were in the same small co-hort that had every class together. Although both were solely focused on their studies, they found themselves in the same study groups and becoming close friends. As the semester progressed, it became difficult to tell whether "just friends" was all it was. The answer became clear as finals approached and they officially started dating.

Kameron and Will were quickly certain they'd met their match. Never had they met someone with whom they shared so many values, goals, and had so much in common. They spent their 1L summer (summer after first year of law school) working at law firms in Des Moines and started applying for 2L summer jobs that would hopefully turn into full-time employment after graduation.

They were fortunate enough to receive interviews with firms across the same several cities, and both just hoped they would receive offers from firms they liked in the same area. To their surprise, they both had a call back interview at the same time at the same Wisconsin law firm. Their day in Milwaukee meeting people at the firm and exploring the city felt like a dream.

The next morning, they went to a coffee shop on lake Michigan. While sitting outside enjoying their breakfast, their phones rang at the exact same time — they were offered jobs as summer associates at the firm. They continued to explore their options with other firms, but ultimately decided it was the best fit for each of them.

They spent the next summer working in Milwaukee, enjoying making new friendships and falling more in love with the city. Kameron still hoped to clerk for a judge for a year after graduation and was fortunate enough to receive an opportunity to clerk for a federal magistrate judge in Milwaukee.

They returned to their final year of law school in Iowa City. In late November, Will invited Kameron over to decorate their Christmas tree, unwrapping the ornaments and handing them to her to place on the tree. After placing several ornaments, Kameron turned to find Will on one knee holding a stunning ring he designed for her. She, of course, said yes.

Shortly thereafter, the couple went to London over winter break for a study abroad course. Studying abroad felt like a long-time coming for both Will and Kameron: COVID caused both to miss out on plans to travel abroad during their last year of undergrad.

After three years of law school by each other's side, the couple earned their law degrees in May of 2024 and headed off to Milwaukee, excited to start their careers and the next part of their forever.
