Napa Valley

There are over 400 tastings room and wineries that you can schedule tastings with. We highly encourage visiting some of our famous winery destinations choose to schedule wine tours. Please refer to our Q&A below for any common questions that come up while scheduling winery visits.

Do I need an appointment to visit a winery?

Yes! Appointments are highly recommended before visiting a winery. You are able to schedule most winery appointments on their websites.

How many wine tastings should I schedule in a day?

We recommend 2-3 tastings in a day. Most visitors feel that they can visit 4-5 wineries in day which is a common mistake. Anticipate spending approximately 90-120 mins at each location for a tasting and budget 30 mins to get to your next location. Tastings are very time sensitive due to limited seating. Be respectful of your time and be sure to communicate to you other appointments if you fall behind schedule.

Is it possible to taste in Napa and Sonoma in the same day?

Yes, but not recommended. The time distance between Napa and Sonoma can range from 45-1.5 hours apart. When you are planning your tasting be sure to look up the TIME distance it takes between each location and plan accordingly. Some winery roads require going through mountain passes or narrow country roads.

How much do tastings costs?

Tasting fees are different for each property, but typically they range $50+ per person. Some wineries will waive tasting fees with the purchase of wine or signing up for their memberships. This tasting fee does not include tips for your host and most locations do not provide a tip line on credit card receipts. We recommend bringing cash to tip your host. Tips are never expected but always appreciated. If you service was excellent, but you do not purchase any wines, it is proper etiquette to leave cash for your winery host.

How do I get my wines home?

Most wineries provide shipping services directly to your home. There is also multiple shipping services available in Napa that you can drop off your wine purchases and they will ship them home for you so you do not need to pay shipping charges at each stop.

Do wineries provide food?

It is not common for wineries to offer full meals at their locations. Some will be able to offer cheese plates or small pairing bites for an additional fee. Be sure to eat prior to tasting or schedule a lunch at a local restaurant.

How late to wineries stay open?

Most winery hours of operation range from 10 AM - 4 PM. There are many tasting rooms in downtown Napa and bars that are open much later into the evening. Wine tasting is a day time activity.
