42 Days To Go!

James and Kara met by chance online in late winter of 2023. James will claim Kara was a bit slow to respond to letting him take her out, but clearly, he won her over in short time despite his undying love for ketchup. The happy duo have been inseparable since they starting dating, but it was really when James took his nephews to Canada that he realized he wanted her with him all the time. As in true Kara fashion, and James will attest, Kara took her sweet time in deciding that he was the one for her.

James is not known for keeping things a secret, so Kara had an inkling that James might decide to make her his to keep for Christmas 2023. James was beside himself for all of that November and December, so when he opted to take her out for a weekender in Kansas City, she knew something was up. She happily said yes when he asked her in front of her favorite big city skyline, Kansas City, at the Loews downtown.

James is by all accounts one of the hardest workers around as he is an engineer for BNSF for over 20 years although he initially went to school for heating and a/c repair. His typical train route takes him from Lincoln to Kansas City--so if you pass a train near the highway to Lincoln it may be him! James has lived in Nebraska all his life, and maybe that's why he loves to travel so much. When not at work, James can easily be found at the gym, rooting for the number 9 in NASCAR, or planning a hiking trip. He loves to explain hiking in the Grand Canyon and Canada. He is an avid animal lover, and Kara is certain he will be bringing home fun finds like goats as the couple plot to build their dream home in the near future. James has three furry kiddos named Ozzy Pawsborne (a Bernedoodle), Charlie (a Goldendoodle), and little Miss Lucy (a two-year-old Golden Retriever who views the world thru rose colored glasses).

Kara has always been an animal lover, and so for her it was the perfect option to choose the vocation of veterinary medicine. Kara moved to Lincoln to serve as the main veterinarian and medical director for Cotner Pet Care, but is currently preparing for her next big career shift. She has been employed in Lincoln for over two years but has been practicing over 16 years. She can be found spending her free time with James in addition to quilting, trying new foods, hanging with friends, going to concerts, or some other art project like photography or refinishing an antique. Kara is the proud owner of the Sassy (an deeply independent red Australian Cattle Dog), Nina (a Russian Blue feline with many thoughts), and the fan favorite Hareiette (the mini-lop).

Both James and Kara are avid travelers and are so excited to have found their permanent travel buddy. James can always be found doting and in awe of Kara while she is always making him new foods to try and gazing at how handsome he is. They plan on making Lincoln their home for the foreseeable future but are making plans to build their dream home for their pets in Missouri. For their honeymoon, the happy couple will be off to see what Hawaii has to offer!
