James and Kara have spent many nights at country concerts with friends, celebrating big events with family, and enjoying simple evenings cooking dinner and playing card games.
They have also been able to travel to beautiful places: Punta Cana for spring break, Arizona, road trip to Colorado, and many other weekend trips with friends.

James grew up with dogs so it was only fitting for them to look for a family companion. The Otto family is very familiar with the Weimaraner breed so when they saw on the Mending Spirits Animal Rescue page that there was a “Weimaraner/Lab Retriever” they needed to meet him!


Blu enjoys walks in the neighborhood, collecting soft toys, and playing with the family puppies. Don’t forget, his favorite activity is a good nap on the couch with his parents.

Just before their sixth Christmas together, James took Kara to the Delano Ballpark to walk through the Christmas lights. At the end of the walk, they landed upon a beautifully lit Christmas tree in the Gazebo. At this moment, James officially asked Kara to be his wife. She said yes!!
