Our Wedding

James and Kara attended the University of North Dakota in August of 2015. We first met during a dorm wing meeting. Over the next few years, they supported each other as friends!

Where We First Met

After their Junior year, James was staying in Grand Forks for the summer while Kara went back to the cities for an internship. Don &amp; Jeanette Kohns, Kara’s Grandparents, were looking for a young man willing to help with larger house projects. They got to know each other over deck staining and ice cream. Don &amp; Jeanette provided encouragement and then the relationship began!

What Sparked the Relationship

James and Kara have spent many nights at country concerts with friends, celebrating big events with family, and enjoying simple evenings cooking dinner and playing card games. They have also been able to travel to beautiful places: Punta Cana for spring break, Arizona, road trip to Colorado, and many other weekend trips with friends.

Through the Years

After James and Kara settled into their jobs in the southwest suburbs, they found themselves renting a lovely home in Prior Lake. Their good friend Jack and his now wife Magen, lived with them for about three years. They continue to call Prior Lake home!

Where We Live

James grew up with dogs so it was only fitting for them to look for a family companion. The Otto family is very familiar with the Weimaraner breed so when they saw on the Mending Spirits Animal Rescue page that there was a “Weimaraner/Lab Retriever” they needed to meet him! Blu enjoys walks in the neighborhood, collecting soft toys, and playing with the family puppies. Don’t forget, his favorite activity is a good nap on the couch with his parents.

Just before their sixth Christmas together, James took Kara to the Delano Ballpark to walk through the Christmas lights. At the end of the walk, they landed upon a beautifully lit Christmas tree in the Gazebo. At this moment, James officially asked Kara to be his wife. She said yes!! Thank you to Max Otto and Lindsey Dreger for capturing the moment!

The Proposal

They are getting married!! Kara and James are looking forward to supporting one another through the adventures of life. They are grateful to have your support and looking forward to celebrating this next step in their relationship! Cheers!
