Things to Do

THE TWIN CITIES (MINNEAPOLIS AND SAINT PAUL):

WALK ALONG THE STONE ARCH BRIDGE

Located just past the Mill City Museum and Guthrie Theater, the Stone Arch Bridge is one of Minneapolis's best-known landmarks. Historic and beautiful, it makes for great photos and views of our first home!

EXPLORE THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA: TWIN CITIES CAMPUS

This campus is where it all began! It's only about 1.5 miles from our wedding venue and offers awesome bars, restaurants, and scenery. Enjoy walking across the Washington Avenue Bridge over the Mississippi River (which splits the campus into its East and West Banks), hopping around at the Stadium Village or Dinkytown bars, and more!

SEE A SHOW AT THE GUTHRIE THEATER

The Guthrie is located next to the Stone Arch Bridge and Mill City Museum, very close to our venue. It's one of the nation's most prestigious theaters and a very proud piece of the Minneapolis arts community. Consider seeing one of their extraordinary shows during your stay in Minneapolis! If you aren't interested in seeing a show, you can still explore the very cool facility.

TAKE IN LAKE BDE MAKA SKA

Formerly known as Lake Calhoun, Lake Bde Maka Ska is where Minneapolis meets the suburbs. While downtown and easily accessible from our venue, it offers a scenic and quieter place for walking or water activities. If interested and weather permitting, you can rent peddle boats, paddle boards, and more!

WALK ALONG THE SAINT ANTHONY MAIN NEIGHBORHOOD

Saint Anthony Main is just down the street from our venue. It's known for its charming riverfront curb appeal and beautiful views of the Mississippi River and Minneapolis Skyline. If available, you can see a movie at the historic Saint Anthony Main theater, or enjoy coffee or food at one of the well-known restaurants and cafes nearby!

ASSEMBLE A TEAM TO TAKE ON TWIN CITIES TRIVIA

The Twin Cities have tons of breweries, bars, and more that offer epic trivia options. Some of our favorites include Headflyer Brewing (a favorite for beers and food, too), 612 Brew, and Indeed Brewing Company and Taproom, all of which are a short distance from our venue and blocked hotels.

TOUR THE MILL CITY MUSEUM

The home of Gold Medal Flour, the Mill City Museum is another Minneapolis staple located just across the Mississippi River from our venue. There is lots of cool history to explore and enjoy here!

DRINK UP AT THE SURLY BREWING COMPANY

Surly is located just down the street from the University of Minnesota's Stadium Village, right on the border of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. It's home to a large variety of delicious brews, often features local live music, and is an absolutely gigantic Twin Cities staple with a beautiful outdoor patio.

If Surly's offerings don't match your style, Minneapolis and Saint Paul have a slew of fantastic breweries. See a few excellent ones under our "Trivia" tab, or feel free to reach out to us for more recommendations!

EXPLORE UPTOWN MINNEAPOLIS (LYNDALE/HENNEPIN DISTRICT)

For more good eats, bars, activities, and theatre, improv, or stand-up comedy, hop over to Uptown, Minneapolis near the Walker Art Center.

EXPERIENCE THE WALKER ART CENTER

Nestled between Uptown Minneapolis and the Mill District (near our wedding), the Walker Art Center is a staple of downtown Minneapolis and a very respected museum. It's probably best known for its Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture.

EXPLORE DOWNTOWN ST. PAUL (LOWERTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD)

While our wedding festivities will be located in Minneapolis, the Twin Cities are located just a few minutes apart. Lowertown St. Paul is also located along the Mississippi River and offers adorable restaurants, bars, and coffee shops to enjoy. If you're hoping for more dancing before our wedding, the Wabasha Street Caves are a beautiful and historical St. Paul staple that offer public swing dancing on Thursday nights!

WITHIN THE TWIN CITIES SUBURBS:

VISIT THE MALL OF AMERICA

Saying we enjoyed MOA growing up would be an understatement, as it has essentially every store, restaurant, and coffee shop that there is to offer, plus mini golf, a mirror maze, obstacle course, bars, and more! Our favorite part of MOA is Nickelodeon Universe, formerly known as Camp Snoopy, which is a giant and very fun indoor amusement park!

PURIFY YOURSELF IN THE WATERS OF LAKE MINNETONKA: LAKE STREET, WATER STREET, AND/OR PONTOONING!

We grew up on opposite sides of Lake Minnetonka: Mason lived down the street from Excelsior's Water Street and Kasey lived about 10 minutes from Wayzata's Lake Street. Enjoy downtown Wayzata or Excelsior to see some of the many reasons we love Minnesota and its beauty so much. It's about a 30-minute drive outside of the city, but well worth it! If you're staying for a few days with a group of friends and the weather cooperates, consider renting a pontoon with pals to explore the lake!

VISIT VALLEYFAIR

Valley Fair is located about 30 minutes from downtown Minneapolis, in a suburb called Shakopee. Valley Fair is a huge, super fun amusement park with more diverse and intense rides than Nickelodeon Universe. We've both had tons of fun enjoying Valley Fair with friends over the years; alongside rides, they have tons of other activities and delicious food and funnel cakes!

HAVE FUN WITH FRIENDS AT GAMEZENTER, HOME OF FANTASY FLIGHT GAMES

If you enjoy Snakes & Lattes in Arizona (or any local board game bar), you will love the home of Fantasy Flight Games, Gamezenter! The creators of many of your favorite board games are based here, just outside of the Twin Cities in the city of Roseville. Roseville is a mere 5-10 minutes from the University of Minnesota.

Enjoy delicious food, drinks, and tons of games at a fraction of other board game bar costs.

SEE A SHOW AT THE CHANHASSEN DINNER THEATRE

Chanhassen is a suburb of the Twin Cities, about 30 minutes away from Minneapolis. Despite the distance, the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre can be a wonderful place for a date night or for new memories with your friend group. They're a full-service bar and restaurant and will serve you as you enjoy quality, professional live theatre!

GREATER MINNESOTA:

VISIT DULUTH, TWO HARBORS, AND THE NORTH SHORE

If you're interested in making a long weekend out of your trip, we recommend renting a car and driving the 2-4 hours North (you can decide how far you'd like to go!) to stay or camp along the North Shore of Lake Superior. The North Shore stretches to the Canadian border and offers absolutely stunning views and campgrounds. If you swing by the town of Two Harbors, make sure to order Betty's Pies!
