Where is Provincetown and how would you recommend getting there?
Provincetown is located on the tip of Cape Cod. For those traveling from outside of New England, we would recommend flying into Boston Logan Airport. From there, we'd recommend taking the ferry. You can catch the ferry in Boston and it will drop you off right in Provincetown Center - only a short distance away from the hotel where the wedding will be held. Apart from being the most convenient, it is in our opinion the most fun way to travel to Provincetown. You can find more details about the recommended ferry services (and other travel options) in the travel section of our website.
Are there any recommended hotels?
Yes! Go to the travel section of this website for the hotels we'd recommend you stay at for the wedding. There is a promo code (NIXON) for both the Harbor Hotel (where the wedding will be) and the nearby Surfside Hotel and Suites. Although we have recommended a few hotels, there are a lot of options in the area, including cottages and homes to rent. We have listed a few websites to check out in the travel section if you are interested in going the house rental route.
Are there any pre-wedding events?
Yes! We are having a welcome party for anyone who is planning to arrive to Provincetown on Friday. Join us on Friday night at the bar in the lobby of the Harbor Hotel for some drinks. The bar will be open from 8 to 11 PM. The Nebraska football game, which kicks off at 8 PM, will be on the TVs.
Where will the wedding be?
Both the ceremony and reception will be held at the Harbor Hotel located at 698 Commercial Street in Provincetown, MA. It's an indoor/outdoor venue. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outside. The reception will be indoors; however, we are hoping to keep the doors open to be able to enjoy the nice fall weather.
What will the weather be like on the wedding day?
Speaking of weather, fall on Cape Cod is generally lovely. Temperatures in late September range from the low 70s to the high 50s.
Is there a dress code for the wedding? If so, what should I wear?
The dress code for the wedding is semi-formal. We are having a casual affair so please wear whatever you feel comfortable in!
What is the timeline for the wedding day?
The ceremony will start at 5:00 P.M. We expect it to last approximately a half hour. After the ceremony there will be a cocktail hour, followed by dinner and dancing until 10:00 P.M.
What kind of food are you serving at the reception?
We are having a New England style clambake. This will include lobster, local clams and mussels, red potatoes, linguica, and corn on the cob. If a clambake isn't your thing, don't worry. We will also have steak and vegetarian options. Please let us know in your RSVP, if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions.
If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to either of us. Also, we will be updating the website periodically as we continue to plan. More info to come!
