Commercial Street is a 3-mile long stretch packed with shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and more. It is the vibrant and lively center of town. During the day, browse the many shops lined up and down the street, grab a cocktail and some fresh seafood at one of the many wonderful restaurants, or just go for a walk on the pier and enjoy being near the water. One of the best things to do in Provincetown is to get out on the water. There are many ways to do that including going on a whale watching tour, chartering a fishing boat, or relaxing on a sunset cruise. Here are some recommendations for tours that leave from MacMillan Pier located right in Provincetown Center.
We have done a whale watching tour with Dolphin Fleet and had a great time! It leaves from and drops off at MacMillan Pier in Provincetown Center. The tour is approximately three to four hours and guarantees a whale sighting or they will offer you a voucher for another tour.

There are also many hiking trails and beaches to explore in this area of Cape Cod. Here are recommendations of some of the trails we've enjoyed while in Provincetown. If you would like to check out the beach while visiting, we would recommend Race Point Beach or Herring Cove Beach.
This is an approximately 2.5-mile hike through the sand dunes. The trail is named for the 19 shacks scattered along the dunes and coast of this area of Cape Cod. It is a relatively challenging hike but is well worth it as you end at a beautiful beach. If you do this, be sure to bring plenty of water!

This is an easy and shorter hike. It leads you through the picturesque Beech Forest.
This is a lovely hiking trail that will take you out to the Race Point Lighthouse and a nearby beach.
There are so many things to do and see in and around Provincetown. Here are a few more things worth exploring if you have time.
The Pilgrim Monument is definitely worth a trip if you have some additional time. It is easy to get to as it is located right in Provincetown Center and it mixes a little bit of history with incredible views. The tower was built between 1907 and 1910 to commemorate the Pilgrims' landing in Provincetown. If you walk up to the top of the tower, you will be 252 feet above the town and can enjoy lovely views of the ocean. A fun fact: this is also the tallest all-granite structure in the U.S.
If you'd like to go golfing while in town, this is a nearby golf course. It is a 9-hole course open to the public. It is also one of the oldest golf courses on Cape Cod and is set among windswept bluffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
This is a vineyard located in nearby Truro. They are open year-round and offer wine tastings or wines by the glass.
This brewery is right in the heart of Provincetown and close by to each of the recommended hotels.
