The U.S. Naval Academy Chapel is on a military base. You will have to go through security when you arrive at the gates of the Naval Academy, so please allow yourself extra time. You must show a valid form of ID, valid drivers licenses or passports.


WALKING: You must enter through Gate 1 if you are walking onto campus. Once you are through security, it is about a 10 minute walk to the Chapel.


DRIVING: You must enter through Gate 8 if you are driving onto campus. Please allow yourself extra time to walk from the garage to the Chapel.

Walking Directions through Gate 1

Enter Gate 1 through one of the two pedestrian entrances circled on the map below. Once you get through security, you take a left on Porter Road, a right on Buchanan Rd, and a left on Blake Rd. to get to the Chapel entrance.

DIRECTIONS FROM ROUTE 50/301 (East or West) TO GATE 1


· Take Exit 24 Rowe Boulevard

· Stay in the right lane toward Annapolis

· After exit, move to the left lane and continue straight until you reach the 2nd traffic light

· Turn left onto Taylor Avenue

· Continue straight on Taylor Avenue

· At the Firehouse, bear right onto Route 450 (Annapolis Street)

· Stay in the right lane

· Turn right at the traffic light onto King George Street

· Proceed to the end of King George Street until you see Gate 1 - United States Naval Academy

· Proceed to Gate 1

· Stay in the right lane toward Annapolis

· After exit, move to the left lane and continue straight until you reach the 2nd traffic light

· Turn left onto Taylor Avenue

· Continue straight on Taylor Avenue

· At the Firehouse, bear right onto Route 450 (Annapolis Street)

· Move to the left lane

· Keep straight through the traffic light on Baltimore Blvd

· At next traffic light, turn right onto Bowyer Road

· Keep straight to Gate 8

Is there parking at the Annapolis Maritime Museum?

Yes, although not at the Museum itself, but neighboring locations. There are 30 spaces available at Horn Point Marina (105 Eastern Ave.) 20 spaces available in the Parking Garage under the office building at 613 Third. St. (next to Weems and Plath). You may leave your car parked in these spaces overnight. These spaces are available all day Saturday and Sunday. NO PARKING is allowed across the street from the Museum at Eastport Yacht Center.

Is there a handicap entrance?

Handicap Parking is available on Blake Road in front of the Chapel between the Chapel and Larsen Hall, and along Maryland Ave. across from Sampson Hall. Guests with mobility concerns are encouraged to enter the Chapel through the side Crypt Entrance (red circle on the map). Follow the exterior signs to the Crypt, and once you are inside the Chapel through the Crypt entrance, there is a room to your immediate left with an elevator. The Main Chapel is on level 2. The restrooms in the Chapel are NOT handicapped accessible and we ask that guests please use the Gate 3 building (red square on map) for accessible restrooms.
