Why Germany?

For one, Germany is a beautiful place with a rich history. We hope our guests will take the time to travel around the area and explore more of the country and the surrounding area. Most importantly, Alex is a native German! We wanted to make sure our marriage was recognized in both the US and Germany.

How do I get there?

If our wedding is the first stop on your European travel, we recommend flying into either Frankfurt (FRA) or Dusseldorf (DUS) airports. Dusseldorf is the closest to Arnsberg, but Frankfurt has more connections to other major US airports. Once in the country, you can either take transportation such as a train, or rent a car. For more a more detailed description, please look into the Travel tab.

Do I need to speak German to get around?

Nope! Even though it is a stereotype that Germans are a little uptight about speaking English, more than 90% can and are willing to do so. Asking nicely in English will always grant you a good and helpful answer. So do not worry, its gonna be alright!

How can I transfer/exchange US Dollars into Euros?

You could go to your bank to exchange US Dollars into Euro bills. But this usually comes with unnecessary fees and bad exchange rates. We would recommend you open an account with Wise or Revolut, these apps allow you to transfer money from your US bank account and exchange it into Euros at the market exchange rate with nearly no fees. You will be able to use their card in europe without any problems. Alex has used Wise since he first came to the US and never had any issues; he appreciates the convenience and fast transfers. You could also just use use credit- or debit card, but this of course depends on the terms that your bank has.
