Are children allowed at the wedding?
To allow all wedding guests, including parents, a night of relaxation and uninhibited revelry, we respectfully request no little ones at this event without prior coordination with the bride and groom.
What is the attire?
“Alpine Fine” combines practicality and beauty. We want you looking good, but also feeling good. Mountain weather can be unpredictable, so we want you to feel like you can bring a jacket or layer for cooler mountain evenings to go along with your cocktail attire.
The ceremony will be outside and the reception is indoors.
What time should I arrive for the ceremony?
If you are driving yourself and not taking the transportation provided, please arrive no later than 4:30pm for the chairlift. Come earlier than 4:30pm and hang at 6th Alley Bar at the base with all the other guests! The lift will start to bring all guests up to the ceremony location at the same time. Note if you are late, the lift will not operate during the ceremony. You will have to wait until after the ceremony to go up to the lodge. The lift will run all night if you want to leave at any certain time and/or come back.
What is the venue like?
The Black Mountain Lodge is located halfway up the ski mountain at Arapahoe Basin at 11,550 feet. Don't forget your sunscreen! In order to get there, we'll be taking the ski lift from the base of the mountain! Each chair can carry four people and slows at each terminal to allow for ease of loading and unloading. If you'd like to get a better idea of the ride, please take a look at this short video that A-Basin put together:
Is there a shuttle from Keystone to A-Basin?
Yes there will be pickup and dropoff at the beginning and end of the night if you don't want to worry about driving. Please make sure you select yes when you RSVP for the wedding if you plan to use the shuttle service we have booked.
There will be Mercedes Sprinter vans through the company Peak 1 Express making 2 loops between River Run Village (100 Dercum Square), Hyatt Place Keystone (23044 US-6) and Arapahoe Basin Ski Area (28194
US-6) starting at 3:30 PM.
The vehicles will return and begin making 2 loops starting at 9 PM until all guests are back to their lodging/after party.
Do I need to bring my ID to the wedding if I plan on consuming alcohol?
YES. A-Basin wanted us to pass along that only alcohol purchased at Arapahoe Basin can be consumed there, and that they will ID anyone that looks under 40 for alcohol. Even though our wedding is a private event, they are still bound to Colorado’s laws pertaining to our liquor license. If they ever find themselves involved in an investigation, having served someone without an ID certainly adds insult to injury. So please, help us make it a fun night for everyone, and make sure all who intend to consume alcohol can present a valid government issued ID, and that they are consuming only the alcohol served by our trained staff, and not alcohol they brought from off our premises. NO ROADIES PLEASE! We will have plenty of drinks for everyone at our open bar! Please be advised, a picture of an ID on a phone is not a valid form of ID. A download of an ID onto Colorado’s MyColorado app is acceptable. They are currently NOT accepting downloads of IDs onto other states’ apps as they do not know yet how to determine if it is valid.

HOW CAN YOU PREPARE FOR THE HIGH ALTITUDE IF YOU AREN'T FROM COLORADO?
You may notice your breathing is faster or deeper here in Colorado, you may have an increased heart rate, and you may feel short of breath, especially when being active. Symptoms of Altitude Sickness can include headache, nausea, poor appetite, and/or a run down feeling. Altitude Sickness is very much like the flu.
TIPS ON HOW TO IMPROVE AND/OR AVOID ALTITUDE SICKNESS: Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day; Water and juices are better than coffee or tea; Decrease salt intake; Increase carbohydrate intake, such as pancakes, pasta or rice; Decrease protein intake, such as steak and eggs; Reduce alcohol and caffeine intake.
If you are at all worried about altitude sickness, we recommend to get to Denver on Tuesday or Wednesday and stay there for a few days and then go to the mountains Thursday to acclimate gradually.
Also if you want to get some personal concentrators of oxygen, A-Basin recommends this company: https://peakoxygen.com/
HOW DO I GET TO KEYSTONE/A-BASIN IF I'M FLYING INTO DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT?
The best way to get around the mountains is to rent a car at the airport and drive up. Uber and Lyft are unreliable and would be much more expensive. There is a shuttle service available from DIA to the mountains, but it could be hard to get anywhere around the mountains if you don't have access to a car. If you are interested in the shuttle from the airport, please reach out to Kate or Carl for info.
