~ How to Get There ~

Tofino, BC is a vibrant gem of a town on Vancouver Island’s rugged west coast, just north of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. It is about ~3 hours drive from Nanaimo or ~5 hour drive from Victoria.

Here is some helpful information on the best travel routes to Tofino!

FLY:

If you’re coming from beyond Metro Vancouver, you can fly into Vancouver (many options), Victoria (Air Canada, WestJet or Porter) or Nanaimo (which has direct flights from Vancouver and Calgary).

There is a local airport in Tofino (https://www.tofinoairport.com/) with flights from YVR. Seaplanes also fly into Tofino harbour (https://harbourair.com/) from Vancouver (YVR south or Vancouver Harbour). If you find enough friends, you can explore chartering a floatplane! Seaplanes are also an option from Vancouver to Nanaimo or Victoria harbours, where you can rent a car and drive to Tofino.

FERRY:

If you are coming from Vancouver by car, vehicle ferries depart from Horseshoe Bay and Tsawwassen to Nanaimo (reservations are strongly recommended ASAP). You can make a scheduled reservation for a specific ferry for a small fee. Only a portion of each ferry trip can be reserved in advanced and they sell out fast for the summer months! Having a reservation is the simplest and easiest way to sail across to Vancouver Island and avoid what can otherwise be long wait times.

There is also a new passenger-only fast ferry, Hullo, which departs from downtown Vancouver to Nanaimo (70 minutes). You can then rent a car in Nanaimo and drive to Tofino. (https://hullo.com/)
