Q + A

Wedding Information (FAQs)

Are the ceremony and reception at the same location?

Yes, all wedding day events are located at Carper's Winery.

Will Transportation Be Provided?

Yes! We will be using Majestic Limo & Coach (56 passenger bus) for transportation services. The bus will be transporting guests to and from the hotel blocks (Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites) and the venue, Carper Winery. There will be two shuttles picking up at 2:00PM, one at each hotel. We will be having the shuttle run back to the hotel blocks listed at the end of the night (every half hour on the hour starting at 8 PM through the last shuttle picking up at 11 PM! Again, guests are encouraged to use the shuttle bus or drive to the event and leave their vehicles overnight, as there are very limited Uber/Lyft/Taxi services in the Norwalk area. We encourage our guests to let loose, enjoy the night with us, and take advantage of using the provided transportation we have listed!

Can I drive to the venue? / Is there parking?

Yes, you can drive to the venue if you'd like! Parking is ample and free at the venue; over 100 spots available. If you drive to the venue and find yourself less sober than expected at the end of the evening, please leave your car in the parking lot. Cars are safe to be left overnight, but they have to be picked up by 10am the next day (Sunday). Instead of driving, you always have the option to ask for a ride or take one of the shuttles back to the hotel instead. Please don't risk your - or anyone else's - safety at the end of the night!

Will there be a shuttle service to and from the hotel?

If you are staying at the Homewood Suites or Hampton Inn, we will be providing a shuttle service to the venue prior to the ceremony and back to the hotel at the end of the night.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be outdoors, if weather allows, and on grass (wear the appropriate shoes!). The cocktail hour will be set up both inside and outside of Carper Winery, and the reception will be primarily inside. All buildings are air conditioned.

What will the weather be like in Iowa?

We are hoping for a sunny and 75-degree day, but it is Iowa so who knows what we will get. Weather in Iowa is a hit or miss in springtime, so it could be 40 degrees and raining or mid 80s and gorgeous. Whatever the weather is, the party will go on!

What should I wear?

The suggested dress code for our wedding is semi-formal / cocktail attire (ideally jackets for the men and cocktail or full-length dresses for the women). However, wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and happy - we are simply excited to see your smiling faces. For your outfit, please keep in mind the Iowa weather and note that the ceremony will be on grass, so plan accordingly.

What happens after the ceremony?

After the ceremony, the wedding party and family will be taking photos nearby for roughly an hour. Family members - please come prepared to take family photos right after the ceremony, so stick around! All other guests can head onto the beautiful Carper's Winery patio to mingle and get the party started while enjoying a pre-dinner snack and beverage.

When is the RSVP deadline? How do you prefer we send our RSVPs?

Please kindly RSVP by March 23th, 2024. We are using the online RSVP option located on this website for your convenience (as well as preventing paper waste). If you are not comfortable navigating the online form, unsure if we received your response, or encounter technical issues while trying to RSVP, you may also contact us directly to RSVP via call, text, or email (Katherine's Cell: 641-777-7686; katherinecarr07@gmail.com)

What should I do if I can't make it?

You will be missed! If you cannot make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP "no" so we can plan accordingly. If you previously RSVP'd "yes" and can no longer attend, please contact us via phone or email so we can adjust plans.

Are children welcome?

Yes and no. We love your little ones and would love to have them at our wedding! However, not all children have received an invitation. Some children have been invited to our special event, primarily those of close family and friends. If your child was invited, it is up to you to decide whether or not to bring them. Regardless, please be sure to RSVP for both you and for them accordingly. Of note, no babysitters will be provided so if you choose to bring them, they are yours to watch. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time either way so you can celebrate with us!

CAN I BRING GUESTS/PLUS ONE'S NOT NOTED ON MY INVITATION?

We have addressed the invitations to the people we would love to come and have a strict RSVP-only guest list. If you received a plus one, they will appear under your name when you RSVP. Please ensure that you are RSVPing for yourself and your guest. Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation.

Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?

We request that during the ceremony, all cell phones are turned off or on silent mode and kept out of reach. Our wonderful team of photographers will handle capturing the ceremony and we would rather have you fully present in the moment with us. Other than the ceremony, YES, absolutely! We encourage you to take lots of photos and we would love for you to share them with us. #OnBoardWithBoyd

What time do we need to arrive and leave by?

We kindly request that guests arrive between 30-60min early to ensure that you have plenty of time to park, say hello to friends, and find your seat prior to the ceremony (3PM start time). Guests who are not seated by the start of the ceremony will be asked to please wait until after the procession to quietly find a seat in the back rows. The reception will end at 11:00pm, and we will have a shuttle service running guests back to the Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites Hotel throughout the night.

Do you have a registry? Where should we bring/send our wedding gift?

If you choose to honor us with a gift, you can send a gift directly to our home in Oklahoma via the registry on our website. Since we live in Oklahoma, this will help minimize logistical issues post-wedding. However, a wedding card box will be at our reception, as well as an area for physical gifts should you prefer. Since Ryan and Katherine are moving at the end of the summer to Italy (SO EXCITING), they are looking to downsize / refine their household items. Hence, less physical items on the registry.

What will the available food and drink options include?

We will be serving hors d'oeuvres & beverages at the cocktail hour, as well as a full buffet, drinks, and dessert at the reception. In addition to an open bar, we will also be serving a range of non-alcoholic beverages including water, soda, and coffee.

I HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

We would like to be conscientious of any dietary restrictions, so please inform us if you have any dietary concerns or if you would like further information on a detailed menu for your comfort. Make sure to include this information as you RSVP. There will be a space available for you to indicate anything we should be aware of (i.e. gluten free, no red meat, kid's meal needed, etc.). If you still have concerns after RSVP'ing, please feel free to contact us through the contact form on our website as soon as possible.

Will there be an open bar?

CHEERS!!! A common question on everyone's mind.... we will be having an open bar for all beer and wine at our celebration. If you would prefer specialty liquor drinks, a cash bar is available throughout the night.
