Naxos is renowned for its stunning beaches, delicious seafood, meats, and cheeses, as well as its rich history, featuring many historic monuments and ancient sites.
For food recommendations, we strongly suggest exploring local tavernas to sample authentic Naxian cuisine such as Taverna Axiotissa, Stou Vasilarakiou, Giorgis, O Xarhs. Make sure to make reservations in advance.
When it comes to beaches, there are two options: you can visit "organized" beaches, which offer amenities such as chairs, umbrellas and food service. Alternatively, you can opt for a more secluded experience by bringing your own towels and umbrellas to set up in a quieter, less-developed location.
For organized beaches, we recommend visiting Caya Beach Bar, Yazoo Beach Bar, and Nomad Beach Bar and Tortuga. These spots provide great amenities and a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for enjoying Naxos's stunning coastline in comfort. We strongly recommend making reservations for umbrella sets if you want to visit a beach bar during peak hours (10.30AM and after).
For historical sights Naxos is most known for the Temple of Apollo ruins, which is right by the port of Naxos. You could also visit: the Temple of Dionysus, and the Flerio Melanes Kouros.
