Katie and Sam met at Indiana University in January of 2021. He asked her out for coffee and they met at the Soma coffee house in downtown Bloomington. During this time, the coffee shop did not have seating for customers. Instead, Sam and Katie had to take their coffee upstairs to the Mexican restaurant and eat chips and salsa with their coffees. From there both of them realized they had met someone worth knowing. By February 14th, 2021 Sam asked Katie to be his girlfriend and they have been together ever since.
