Katie and Alex ran in similar circles with a lot of mutual friends. The first time they met was at our Bridesmaid, Morgan’s, birthday party in 2015. The above photo from 2017 shows the happy couple (before they were a couple) at our dear friend Dominique’s going away party, just a few people apart, having no idea that they would one day be getting married. Flash forward to our good friend, Nick’s, birthday party in 2019: Morgan encouraged Katie to come out of her shell to go out and socialize at Nicks, and once she was there, she started talking to this handsome guy (who she recognized as Alex), and once he brought up ex-Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, the rest was history. Katie knew Alex was a keeper when he brought her a LaCroix on their first date at a local bar. Katie’s and Alex’s relationship withstood Katie living abroad in Germany, COVID, and even spending a brief time apart. The couple moved in together in 2022 and got engaged in Puerto Escondido, Mexico, in February 2023.
