We first met at a wedding of mutual friends. Once we were in one spot, friends realized that we might actually be good together and worked very hard to get us to talk to one another. Both of us didn't wear our glasses to the wedding, so neither of us could tell what the other looked like across the reception.

The night was filled with ingenious attempts to get us to talk to each other, which we eventually did. Katie seemed to have made a lasting impression! We went on our first date on August 2, 2016 at the OC fair where Katie cheated during the squirt gun game and Nick lost his hope of winning her a prize, because Katie 'don't need no man to win her a prize'.

We officially started dating on August 21, 2016, making the relationship long distance with Nick in Fresno, CA and Katie in Boulder, CO. Our first (intentional) picture together! Nick went to Boulder to visit Katie over Thanksgiving break and they went to the Denver Aquarium.

Thanks to Sydney, our family started a little earlier than anticipated with the adoption of Mister Meeseeks. Also known as: Mister, Mystery, or Debbie.

Katie moved to Colorado after graduating from CU Boulder in February, 2018 for work. With Nick being unable to move right away, they continued their long distance relationship. Once Nick had the opportunity to move, he did not hesitate, and he joined Katie in Colorado right before her birthday! While moving away from friends and family was hard, we realized that this was the opportunity to begin our life together in the same place.

After what was supposed to be a quick trip to Petsmart to get cat food, Katie called Nick to try to convince him this kitten was a perfect addition to the family. Nick did not put up any kind of fight. Thus, Missus Meeseeks joined the family. Also known as: Missy, MissyMooMoo, MissyKaboodles, Sassy B**ch.

The month of May must mean something because we acquired yet another member of the family after having too many bloody marys at brunch. Never trust someone who says 'Let's just see what happens', aka Nick. Chewie picked us just as much as we picked him. Also known as: ChooChoo, Choo Choo Boy, Choo La Rue, Chewsef Rupert Swegart, Mr. Poopy Butthole... He's our special boy!

Nick proposed to Katie as they sailed away from Miami and towards the Bahamas.

After a great day on the lake, fate decided we needed one more. We found Matey while shopping in a King Soopers grocery store. Once caught, nobody knew what to do with him, so we took him home. Also known as: Matey Boy, Scavenger, Little boy.

We closed on our first house together!
