Things to Do

Henry Doorly Zoo

3701 S 10th St, Omaha, NE 68107
402-733-8400
One of the top zoos in the country, and a great way to spend some time for both kids and adults. Our favorites are the aquarium and the gorilla enclosure.

Lauritzen Gardens

100 Bancroft St, Omaha, NE 68108
(402) 346-4002
Very cool botanical garden with a mix of indoor and outdoor areas and a wide variety of plants.

Omaha Riverfront (and Downtown Omaha in General)

1001 Douglas St, Omaha, NE 68102
The Riverfront area is a large park starting in downtown Omaha and extending to the Missouri River - a great place to hang out in nice weather. It includes a couple of large playgrounds and a water play area for the kids (one playground is at 201 Riverfront Dr, and the other two areas are roughly between 10th and 13th Street on Farnam). Downtown has a ton of great restaurants/bars, and some interesting little stores.

Joslyn Art Museum

2200 Dodge St, Omaha, NE 68102
The Joslyn was redesigned over the past few years, and just recently reopened. Admission is now free. There is also a cool exterior sculpture garden area.

Omaha Children's Museum

500 S 20th St, Omaha, NE 68102
402-3420-6164
The Children's museum is a fun place for kids, full of interactive exhibits and not far from downtown/Council Bluffs.

Kiewit Luminarium

345 Riverfront Dr, Omaha, NE 68102
A new and quite interesting science museum for both kids and adults, focused on hands-on exhibits.

Hitchcock Nature Center

27792 Ski Hill Loop, Honey Creek, IA 51542
Our favorite place to walk/hike in the area, located about 20 miles north of downtown Omaha in the Loess Hills. Includes an observation tower with great views of the surrounding area.
