Reese is the calm to Katie’s storm- the love, exuberance, and passion Katie has for life and love is balanced perfectly by Reese’s gentle, thoughtful, and down to earth approach. Their story is beautiful and complex, as well as their relationship as a whole.

While Reese and Katie officially met through mutual friends at Ohio University in their beloved college days, they technically met as young teenagers. They both played tennis for their high schools (Reese living in Hillsboro, Katie in Chillicothe). For an entire summer they were in the same tennis training camps, without a clue in the world that they would become husband and wife. They most likely didn’t connect at the time due to Reese’s ability to excel at the sport in question, meanwhile Katie legitimately sucked (she was banished to the remedial courts, she mainly played tennis to get out of gym). At OU, they were just acquaintances, but Katie always thought he was cute.

A year after Reese graduated, Katie went on a girls trip to celebrate her and her friend's college graduation. They went to Dallas, TX where Reese lived- since their friends knew each other, they connected throughout that week. A few weeks after the trip, Katie was surprised but excited to see that Reese texted her, where he proceeded to say “and I never text anyone first”.

Their relationship started to form. They flew back and forth to see each other throughout the following year. Eventually Reese moved back to Ohio, and they decided to take the leap and officially date. They spent one year long distance, with Katie teaching in Athens, OH and Reese working in Cincinnati. They knew very early on that this was it, if not immediately. Katie created her married email address (katie.leibreich@gmail.com) approximately 1 month after dating- Katie was advised not to fill Reese in on that tidbit of information. Katie’s response? “He knows what he’s getting into”.

The thought of moving in together wasn’t ever a question, it just felt right. They decided to move to Cincinnati in June 2021, and moved into their first apartment together. Coming from two small towns in Ohio set a foundation for the two of them- as they had a similar upbringing, they have a similar outlook on life. They have a great appreciation for the abundance of resources in Cincinnati, and never take it for granted. They got their precious puppy, Riley, very soon after. That little dog couldn’t be more perfect for their family, and they adore her more than words could possibly express. Navigating life with a new puppy and a new city brought their relationship to another level- they grew into a united force, which is the most essential necessity in a marriage. No matter what life throws at Reese and Katie, their foundation is rock solid. While on the exterior they are polar opposite humans, they are more intrinsically alike than people would know. They each fill the holes the other lacks.

On July 8th, 2023, Reese proposed to Katie at Ault Park in Cincinnati. He had Caroline and Maria (loving bridesmaids) create a picnic basket and bring Riley to surprise her. He had a photographer capture that beautiful, special memory that they will cherish forever. It didn’t end there, he planned a surprise mini engagement party for that evening with a few of their friends! Reese couldn’t have shown his love for Katie better, he knew exactly how she would want the proposal to go and he thoughtfully planned it out.

Reese and Katie cannot wait to start their married life together with all of their loved ones. Rain or shine, they know that July 12th, 2025 will be the best day of their lives. Thank you for joining the celebration for the future Mr. and Mrs. Leibreich.
