We met on Ocracoke in the summer of 2020 while Carson was home for summer break and Katie worked her first summer at Ride the Wind Surf Shop. After graduating college in 2021 and taking endless trips between VA and NC, we now call Ocracoke our home. We are so excited to welcome our favorite people to our beautiful island home. Ocracoke is rich with history, nature, and things to do.

Ocracoke has a variety of options when it comes to places to stay! We are a small village so you really can't go wrong with location as far as proximity to the venue, activities, restaurants, shops, the beach, and the sound. Given that October is the off season, you can book a partial or full stay at a cottage or condo through Ocracoke Island Realty or Blue Heron Realty. There are also plenty of local hotels and a few options on AirBnb and Vrbo. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like suggestions!

The only way to access Ocracoke is by ferry. The three routes are the Cedar Island Ferry (2 hr, 30 min ride), Swan Quarter Ferry (2 hr, 45 min ride), and Hatteras Ferry (1 hr). We recommend taking the Cedar Island and Swan Quarter ferries as you can reserve a space and guarantee yourself a spot. The cost of the SQ and CI ferries is $15 one way. You can make your reservation here: https://ferry.ncdot.gov/#/ The Hatteras Ferry is free but operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. You may end up sitting in line for some time while waiting on a ferry. This is why we recommend the SQ and CI ferries.

Ocracoke is a beautiful and historic town in the OBX. The village is very walkable; however, we do recommend renting bikes or a golf cart to explore. October is nearing the off season, but most shops and restaurants will still be open for business. If you are interested in heading out to the beach, you may park at the lifeguard public beach access and walk on or you can drive on the beach with a 4WD vehicle and a Cape Hatteras National Seashore Off Road Permit <a href="https://www.recreation.gov/vehiclepermits/249978?gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=22510447360&amp;gbraid=0AAAAACzIa87_EhXu5Ey2p-RUXEH5yGDM_&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjw2IDFBhDCARIsABDKOJ5xDrG5laR0PLT2_p_Brv145zBoqabCbqr_j4otzbNGm8tX3nc_JOgaAhWaEALw_wcB" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ORV permit link</a>.
