Seattle has a lot of great neighborhoods that each have their own personality and flavor. We have included some of our recommendations here, and hope you enjoy some time getting to see our city!

Downtown

Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum is in Seattle Center and one of Katie and Max’s favorites. It’s close to the Olympic Sculpture Park and the Elliott Bay walking trail on the water.

For a rooftop view, we recommend going to Columbia Center instead of the Space Needle – it’s higher, and you get a view with the Space Needle in it along with mountains, water, and the city.

The port has a number of ferries that operate out of it – on a nice day, a ferry ride to/from Bremerton or Bainbridge Island is a great way to see some beautiful views.

Pike Place Market is an iconic Seattle attraction. There are a ton of shops, restaurants, and browsing to do here. You can have a great time wandering around, but we also like the free walking tour. To eat during the day, we recommend:

DeLaurenti Food and Wine: Italian grocer with great snacks (make your own charcuterie and sine spread) and Italian sandwiches to go.

Three Girls Bakery: Excellent baked treats and has a lunch counter with great sandwiches – it was also the first business to be licensed to women in the city of Seattle!

Market Grill: Counter stand that has the best salmon sandwich in the market.

Old Stove Brewery: This is on the lower levels on the market, and has an amazing view of Puget Sound to pair with their excellent beer and pub fare. The wait here can be a while, so put your name on the list and then browse the market while you wait.

Copacabana: Great seating outside with a view, along with tasty drinks and Bolivian food.

There are also a number of places that are great for dinner or drinks in the market, including:

Maximilien (reservation recommended)

The Pink Door (reservation recommended)

Café Campagne (reservation recommended)

Kell’s Irish Pub

Capitol Hill is the neighborhood Max and Katie live in, and is adjacent to downtown. The wedding weekend is also Pride in Seattle/Capitol Hill, so it’s sure to be an exciting weekend with lots going on. To eat, we recommend Cornelly, Harry’s Fine Foods, and Single Shot which are in a quieter part of the neighborhood. Tavolata, Oddfellows, and Taylor Farms Shellfish are all in the livelier part of the neighborhood, and closer to the welcome party location at Stoup. Elliott Bay Book Company is a great bookstore to visit, along with Molly Moon’s for ice cream. We recommend calling ahead or a reservation anywhere in Capitol Hill this weekend with all of the festivities going on.

Ballard is neighborhood north of downtown and has an array of great restaurant, shops, and activities. For attractions, the Ballard Locks are a favorite spot to visit, along with the nearby Nordic Museum. There’s a great outdoor farmers market on Sundays too. For cafes, food, and bars, you can’t really go wrong with anything on Ballard Avenue. Ballard also has a high concentration of breweries, so if you want to sample a few and see the area, take a look at the options here – our favorites are Reubens and Wheelie Pop.
