Trey & I met in June of 2018 in Sioux Falls, SD. Despite attending the same college (Go Jacks!), we never met there! During our first date, we spent the evening walking around downtown Sioux Falls enjoying the local restaurants and unique shops. We shared our first kiss that night on the bridge that crosses the Big Sioux River. Fast forward one year and one month later, and we found ourselves on that same bridge, exploring downtown once again. We were crossing the bridge to go meet up with Trey's family and friends for a party celebrating his parent's 35th anniversary, or so I was told! Next thing I knew, Trey was on one knee asking me to marry him. After a few minutes of shock, excitement, and a lot of other whirlwind emotions, we continued our walk across the bridge to the Falls Landing restaurant where the anniversary party was to take place. When we walked up the stairs, there was our close friends and family, waiting to celebrate with us! It was by far the best day of our lives, but we can't wait for the day that is sure to take the top spot, our wedding!
Katie and I met up for our first date at Remedy downtown Sioux Falls. I thought she was very good-looking but was trying to not get my hopes up too much. We sat outside for a drink and had good conversation. After one drink I was assuming the night would end and we would part ways. To my surprise Katie said, "Let's get another one." So we did and it continued going well. As the second drink came to an end, I thought for sure it would be the end of the night. However, once again Katie surprised me and said, "Let's go check out another place or go walk around!" So I agreed and thought to myself how I must really be wooing her. We then began to walk around downtown and look at all of the sculptures. Whenever Katie said that she liked a sculpture I would promptly agree and say that I liked it too. I began to get a little more comfortable and started cracking jokes every once in awhile. She politely laughed when I would try to be funny so I took that as a good sign. As we were walking around we ended up by the bridge near Falls Landing. It was dark out so as we walked up to the bridge I put my hand out to try and protect her in case there was someone hiding by the bridge to jump out at us (I have no idea why I thought that). She surprised me by grabbing my hand. We then walked hand in hand across the bridge but stopped in the middle and had our first kiss. I once again thought to myself how my smooth talking must really be impressing her. That first night ended up being 6 hours of talking and walking around downtown. I had initially thought it would end after an hour. After that I thought that she could be something really special. Fast forward just a little over a year and there we were on that bridge once again in the same spot. I was pretty nervous so I don't even know what I all said to her but I got down on a knee and opened up a box with a ring in it. For some reason, she said yes and has been wearing the ring ever since!
