Sean and I have lived in Philadelphia since January of 2015! Therefore, we have lots of recommendations for places you should go and things you should eat!
Here are a few websites that have lots of ideas:

Museums:
Philadelphia Art Museum: a vast collection of art. Make sure to walk around the grounds and check out Boathouse Row behind the museum.
Barnes Foundation: in a new space since 2012, but artwork mirror the placement of Dr. Barnes. Katy could talk about the arrangements for hours!
Historical Philadelphia: you can’t come to Philly without checking out Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.
Rodin Museum: Smaller museum, but a very nice courtyard to walk through if you are nearby.
Franklin Institute : Fun for kids of all ages. Check out the giant heart that Katy has been visiting since she was a kid!
Mutter Museum: if you are interested in weird medical science!
Please Touch Museum: for the little ones. A place you can actually touch everything.
Places to Visit:
Italian Market: don’t miss Di Bruno Bros for some cheese and meat. Or a cannoli at Isgros!
Old City: galleries, restaurants, and shops. Also, take a walk to Penn’s Landing and the Delaware River. Here you can also visit the American Jewish History Museum or the Museum of the American Revolution. Spruce Street Harbor is a great place to hangout in hammock or watch boats go by.
East Passyunk Avenue: Great restaurants and shops including dinner at Laurel or Townsend. Pick up a challah or Babka at Essen Bakery.
Restaurants/Places to eat
Reading Terminal Market: Dinic’s Roast Pork for sandwiches, Bassett’s Ice Cream and Beiler’s Bakery (get a fritter or doughnut, you won’t regret it)!
Bourse Food Hall: completed re-designed in 2018, with fun fast-casual restaurants to eat and drink at.
Anything by Michael Solomonov: Zahav, if you can get a table, it will be a great experience. For his food, but without the wait try a falafel sandwich at Goldie or hummus and pita at Dizengoff.
Federal Donuts: Donuts and Fried Chicken.
Double Knot: One of Katy and Sean’s favorite restaurants in the city.
Clarkville—Our first wedding was there! The pizzas are great, as are the beets!
Wawa: a Philadelphia staple. Try a hoagie and a coffee. Also, you can find them on pretty much every corner at this point.
Cheesesteaks:
I guess it would not be a Philadelphia review without some information on Cheesesteaks. There are plenty of options, try to hit up as many as you can. If you can think of a male name, it is probably the name of a cheesesteak shop in Philadelphia.
