Our Story

Some love stories begin with fireworks. Ours began with middle school hallways, high school friend groups, and a quiet crush that lasted years.

We’ve known of each other since middle school, but it wasn’t until high school that we really shared space—laughing with the same friends, crossing paths between classes. Katy had a not-so-secret crush on Harrison, though he never caught on. (To be fair, he was told to ask her out by a friend, but apparently, he thought she was “too intimidating”—which is funny, because Katy was one of the shyest people in school.)

Flash forward to 2019—cue the chaos of COVID, and cue Katy sliding into Harrison’s Instagram DMs. He had just been featured in a post for Prospector, and she told him he looked like he could model for Vogue. (Flirting? Maybe. Honest? Absolutely.) From there, something sparked.

We started as friends—frisbee golf, long picnics, sushi dates, and late-night hangouts that felt like magic in the ordinary. Katy didn’t plan to fall for Harrison. In fact, she was so shy she told everyone else but him how she felt. It wasn’t until Katy’s Grammy casually mentioned to her dad, “Aren’t they dating?” that she finally worked up the nerve to tell Harrison the same.

We took the leap—and the love only grew.

After six months together, right before college began, Katy finally said the words that had been building in her heart: “I think I’m in love with you.” It was her shy way of saying, “I love you”—and thankfully, Harrison felt the same. That moment became a turning point, giving us a foundation of trust and tenderness as we entered a season of long-distance love.

College brought its challenges, but it also taught us how to grow stronger—learning to communicate more deeply, support each other from afar, and celebrate each milestone, no matter the distance.

In March 2025, we took a spring break trip to Zion with Iryna, Katy’s friend. While pretending to pose for “couple photos” on a random private road with a killer view, Harrison dropped to one knee. Katy was floored, speechless (a rare moment), and completely overjoyed. After four years of adventure, laughter, growth, and deep love, she said yes to forever with her best friend.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you—the ones who’ve watched our love grow, cheered us on, and made our story even richer. Come celebrate the next chapter of our favorite journey.

With love,

Katy & Harrison Riggs
