Our Story

If you ask Dylan...

Living in the mountains as a male has tons of benefits! One of the downsides however is the women are few and far between. Here I was hiking, biking and snowboarding hoping to just run into my mate. Little did I know that person would run into me on the digital world.

I matched with Kayla on Hinge and I would lie if I felt pretty confident at the start. We would have a lot of great conversations but then she would disappear and not message me for a couple days. I told myself she was just busy and that we would eventually link up someday. I stayed persistent and always tried to get a date with her. Finally the day arrived and we met up. Ever since I have been unable to wanna leave her side. She was always doing something interesting and I wanted to be apart of it. Also getting to see her adorable smile was a plus.

After spending a winter together which felt like a whole decade of fun adventures with my best friend she decided to stay for the summer. Summer to felt like a whole decade and by the end of it i didn't want to be away from my best friend. However we learned that she was being shipped to basic training for the Air Guard and would be gone for over 6 months. I know at that moment I would sacrifice anything to be with this woman. We got married with our cute little family to make sure i was able to visit her well she was gone. Excited to celebrate with everyone after being married for a year to renew our vows in front of our important people.

If you ask Kayla...

In fall of 2022, I was just about to make the move from the city to the mountains. I was extremely nervous because I didn't know anyone there, so I put myself out there on Hinge in that area before the move.

Once I saw Dylan on the app, I thought he'd be way too nice for me but I was also looking for a friendly face and it said he liked dogs. Upon matching with him and exchanging messages, Hinge started doing a weird thing where it kept repeating and sending my messages to him. Not wanting to look crazy, I gave him my phone number.

We texted for weeks and he survived many ghosts, but patiently waited for me. We talked early on about a wine he had gotten on a trip to Wisconsin and he told me he'd save it for our first date.

Finally, moving day rolled around and I had agreed to meet him for a date at True Kitchen. I was at my parents' house getting ready, crying, saying I didn't want to go. My mom said "You don't want to move or you don't want to go on the date?", to which I replied "BOTH!". She told me I had lead him on for long enough and that I should give it a chance and if I hated the mountains I could move back. Spoiler alert: I didn't!

From the moment I sat down at True Kitchen, Dylan and I have been inseparable. It became a daily routine of "What're you doing tonight?" and the other answering "Hanging out with you!". And, he did save that wine to have with me :)

From early on, we knew we would be together for the long haul. What we weren't expecting was that he wouldn't be able to visit me while I was in technical training if we weren't married, so we got married on my apartment patio and had our dog Callie sign as a 'witness'. Exactly 1 year after later, we're so excited to celebrate with all of our loved ones with a formal ceremony.
